Hi,
One of my auctions (Item number: 260195872735) has very strange layout problem. Entire description goes all the way down leaving empty space at the top.

My HTML editor displays correct layout but when I paste it into Vendio, entire description goes down. It incorrectly shows in Vendio preview as well so it must be me or Vendio.

I cannot find any problems in HTML code for this auction.

Any idea what is causing it and how can I fix it?

Thanks,
Jack

Hello Jack,

The problem is with the image layout of your template. You are using quite a few images, and the placement is to put them all to the right in the template. Since your description text is not as long as the images, there is the blank space before and after the description text. You can fix this by selecting a different image layout for the template (such as "Images on Bottom" ). Please let us know if you continue to have trouble with this.

Regards,
Nathan

Nathan,
Thanks for the suggestion but I have ALL my listings with tons of pictures and the description always stays at the top of the listing.

Looks like I did something differently for this particular listing. I always copy layout and most of description from one listing to another so they should behave the same way.

I cannot find anything making this listing go down leaving empty space.

Again, all other listings are correct. Please check Item number: 260194945531. The same layout with pictures nicely on the side and text at the very top of the listing.

Could you kindly ask somebody to check my code and Vendio template? Otherwise I will have to redo the listing.

Thanks,
Jack

Hello Jack,

There is an additional problem, which is the Custom Text that you have entered into the "Custom Text" --> "Default Listing Text" --> "eBay" section of your account. You are using HTML table code, which can often cause problems with other parts of your listing description. It looks like you have changed the Custom Text HTML code since you listed "260194945531" and before you listed "260195872735", which has helped cause the problem. If you were to revert back to the prior version of HTML code for this section, you should no longer have problems with this for future listings.

Note that changing your image placement should also correct the problem.

Nathan

Nathan,
Thanks for your prompt response. I will check the custom text area and HTML table situation.

I really do not want to change the layout of the pictures as this is the part of my overall brand recognition. I did several surveys (some thru Vendio email system) and this is what my customers prefer.

Nathan,
I need your immediate help to pinpoint the problem with my layout.

As advised I made a small change to the "Custom Text" --> "Default Listing Text" and all my pictures went completely out of place.

Item number: 260197091823

Could you explain why your template is affected by my "custom test". I supposed to be allowed to use simple HTML code but it messes up your template.

I any case, I need your help as I cannot launch new items.

Jack

Hello Jack,

I believe it was due to a missing closing tag in your 'Availability' section of the Custom Listing Text, which is why your seeing the background of the template bleeding down into the lower parts of the listing after the template would have usually stopped. (missing closing table tags are usually what cause these.)

I think I was able to fix the one missing tag, and the preview seems to show what your looking for in terms of item description layout. Do you want to take a look and let us know if this seems correct?

While you can use any custom HTML code you want in the custom text area's, if they have any errors in their code at all it will effect the rest of the code on the page.

Regards,
Christopher

Christopher,
Thank you for your super fast intervention despite short holiday week.

I'm still a bit concerned that the entire layout and your templates can be so easily affected by our "creative" HTML code.

In any case, thanks for fixing it.

Jack
