Hi,

We have wondered for some time why it is necessary for Vendio to scale-down all of our images in each listing.

We'd like to be able to display them without having the potential buyers take the extra step of clicking on the image to get a larger picture.

Why does Vendio add this extra step? Why do they AUTOMATICALLY RESIZE our images when they are over 250 pixels wide and make the buyer "Click to View?"

Other companies allow the image size of your choice and do not place this limitation on the seller. I'd like to understand, technically, why we can't do that as well.
I see even ebay's tools allow for full-sized images to flow quite nicely in the listing. We believe this diminishes the presentation of our listings and we'd appreciate anyone at Vendio explaining to us why this is considered to be a better way. Thanks.

Here's an earlier response to a similar question.

posted on June 12, 2004 01:52:44 PM Were are building some auctions with a standard Vendio Template but the images are downsizing when they are previewed.

Do we have a setting wrong ? Should they not be small versions that a customer can supersize ?

What are you we doing wrong ?

You have image resizing turned on, so they are appearing as clickable smaller versions that take your buyer to the original version. This helps make a cleaner presentation of images in your listings -- of course it is up to you if you want to leave this on or not. The "click to view larger version" option may be enabled or disabled by following these steps:

-Click on the "My Account" tab
-Click on the "Global Preference" link
-Check or uncheck the box for "Automatically scale down large images for faster download and cleaner presentation"
-Click "Save Preferences"

Please be aware that automatic resizing will -only- be activated if an image is over 250 pixels wide. If your image is 250 pixels wide or smaller, there will be no "click to view larger version" option on your auction listing.

Regards,

Sonya

Hello,

Sorry for the confusion, you do not have to use the option where we resize your images to 250 pixels wide.

This is simply a preference for you to toggle on or off as you wish. Some sellers use huge images that would look bad when displayed at their full size within the listing, causing the page to widen out where scrolling is needed, or simply take much too long for buyers to load completely.

You can turn this preference on or off via the My Account tab, under the Global Preferences link found within. Just uncheck the box labeled "Automatically scale down large images for faster download and cleaner presentation" at the bottom of that page, then click to save your preferences when finished.

Regards,
Christopher
