Vendio-

I realize that you get extra revenue by selling ad space on the SM pages.

But PLEASE STOP the flashing ads! I've disabled GIF animation yet still the buttons for the "earn your degree while you work" flash! Very distracting, and distressing to anyone with a headache or visual sensitivity that can trigger vertigo.

It's not realistic to think that folks will or can disable java, javascript or plugins to stop the continual motion since so many sites now rely on them.

Please stop this type of ad.

thanks

I would suggest switching to Mozilla Firefox as your Internet browser. I had the same problem but I was able to disable regular and pop up adds.

I agree, this is terrible. With the current volume of auctions I pay over $120/month for Vendio only to fight with their advertisements.

I have another problem with Vendio displaying my pictures on eBay surrounded with Vendio links sending my buyers AWAY from my auctions.

Thanks,
Jack

Thanks for the suggestion, but the current flashing ad "earn your degree online" isn't a popup, it's being done with javascript.
Disabling javascript is the only way to make it stop flashing, but then a lot of functionality that you do want & need is disabled.

I agree. The animation makes it very difficult to focus your attention on the rest of the page. I'm prone to migraines and at times it almost makes me ill.

Vendio should have some control over the type of ad that is place. The ones with brief, one-time movement aren't so bad. Things that flash or move repeatedly should be banned.

I usually move the window over to force them off the screen.

gaugagaug,
I am not sure how Mozilla Firefox is doing it but I have just empty space instead of advertisement. It completely blocks out all advertisements and pop ups. Firefox is also much safer and problem free comparing to IE.

I'm also using hardware firewall box that is blocking some of the advertisements.

However, your point is valid. Vendio shouldn't force me to fight their advertisements with such an extraordinary means. I’m paying them $120/month for the service.

Thanks,
Jack

What you need is a "Flash blocker". That is probably what firefox is doing, blocking flash ad's. I personally use Secure Internet Explorer. Just like Windows IE but has other added features like a flash blocker. Not only does it make those anoying animated add's go away but your pages load faster because you do not have to wait for the flash media to load.

Thanks for the Firefox tip. I wouldn't have believed it, but indeed, no flashing under Firefox, even with javascript enabled. In Opera (which is my preferred browser because of its "resume last session" feature), I have to disable Javascript to make the flashing on the nausea-inducing "Earn your degree" ad.

Thanks for the tip on "flash blockers". I think I'll check out Secure IE, but I'm also going to hunt for a flash blocker for Opera.

Hi,
Once you start using Firefox you may want to download Adblocker to further enhance your shields against Vendio's attempts to sell you high school diploma or some other stuff.

Just go to Tools, extensions and choose Adblocker

Thanks,
Jack

Just found the Firefox Extension I've been waiting for!! SessionSaver.2

It magically restores your last browsing session - all windows, all tabs, everything being typed - even after a crash! This is the one Opera feature that I couldn't do without and was lacking in Firefox - it's a real timesaver.
Combined with being more flexible at blocking the nauseating adware on Vendio, looks like a real winner!
