I received a money order from someone with no details as to what it is for and I don't have any auctions that have ended for that amount, but I've narrowed it down to a few possibles. How can I tell someone's name and location by looking at the username? None of the ones I've looked at are sellers, just buyers. thanks

If you've narrowed it down to a few, why not email those people and ask them?

Also, if you view the email addresses attached to the IDs, you may have a clue. For example, John Smith's email address is very often something revealing, like [email protected]. You might figure it out that way.

Alternately you might try emailing [email protected] and have see if they'd match up the name to one of your transactions.

James.

Hi:
If you will go to the Site Map page on ebay in the column to the left side under the "Search" area it will have a choice that says "Search for Members"

Click there and you will come to a search page scrool down that page until you come to "Contact Info" you can then enter the user ID of the person whose name you need and ebay will email it to you. The information you will receive from ebay will be the persons name, the city they live in and their phone number. Ebay will also include your information and it will be sent to both of you.

Sometimes people mention a first name when they leave feedback, like "thanks for the past pay Susan" It's not the best way to find information but it is another clue. I've found it helpful on occasion.

Write to [email protected] and give them the person's name. They'll look it up and tell you their ebay ID.

I was wondering: can't you tell by the amount what it might be for? And don't you keep your Ebay EOA and Listing notices? I am a total pack-rat and have a folder for each customer....
