It's being re-named Media Mail
up to 1 pound $1.30
each additional pound, up to 7 $0.45
each additional pound, over 7 $0.30
I also noticed that in some ways first class has gone down. For instance right now 5 ounces (the usual weight of a CD) is $1.21 but with the new rates will be $1.18

yes everthing is going up .
I have been working on this for weeks now ajusting my shipping rate on my auctions to work with the new rates.
I have found the best way buyers will save on shipping is 13 oz frist class is $2.97 parcel post up to 2 lbs will be $2.97 these are a far better deal then shipping in free boxes on smaller items.
How ever I have found offering fixed shipping on the Items I sell of $4.00 up to 2 lbs and add $1.25 per pound for every extra pound works well The extra few cents will off set the cost of buying clean new cardboard and packageing to ship in will also help off set other fees for printing my own postage and makeing my shipped item look professionally done.

I understand all of the new postal rates except delivery confirmation. Even my postmistress says she doen't know. Just how much is the new DC rate for media mail and parcel post?...does anyone have that info? If I am not mistaken, doesn't DC increase from 35 cents to 50 cents on priority? Can't figure it out on the others. Thanks!

DC for Priority Mail is going up to 40 cents. They list DC for "Package Services" at 50 cents... I guess this means Media Mail and Parcel Post items, etc, but I don't know for sure...

HMMM..interesting. That's an increase for DC on priority, but a decrease on the others..right now it's 60 cents for DC on bookrate (special standard) or parcel post. I find it hard to think they might actually decrease the cost, although it would be most welcome.

I just verified that it is DEcreasing to 50 cents for Package Services, which is the classification that Media Mail (currently Special Standard/Book Rate) falls under.
While Priority took the biggest hit, some items actually did go down.
