In my recent auctions I had the text “Wishing you a Merry and Prosperous Christmas”.
Last week I got an e-mail from a fellow who threatened me:
“How dare you foist your Christian beliefs upon me? EBay is a worldwide forum, and most people are not Christians. I found you statements in your auctions to be offensive and bigoted. There are millions of Jews on this planet, and we will tolerate having your beliefs imposed upon us. If you think you will get away with this Christian evangelism, you are sadly mistaken”
All last week, two users with zero feedback has been buying ALL of my items. They bid against each other to the point where items I expected to go for $10 are bid-up into the thousands of dollars.
I know this is a set-up, but eBay is still deducting the FVF from my account. This person has ruined over 70 auctions, and I am heartbroken that I have to do all of the FVF refund work, and I cannot re-post the auctions. I have over 600 feedbacks, and I hate to start over with a new ID.
There seems to be no way to stop this person. I reported the ID’s to SafeHarbor, but they say that I have to wait and see if they pay.
I would love to fight back, but I don’t know how.

Patel,
Unfortunately, Christian bashing is the "In" thing this year.
Not only on eBay, but here as well.
I predict you will see some soon in this very thread.
The religion/Christian knockers love this sort of thing.
Sorry for your problem. It's sad that believing in GOD is now a liabilty.

I think it might be Alan Dershowitz
In all seriousness, it sucks what is happening to you. Most people ARE christians, and I as a Jew recongize that. So long as an auction doesnt say soemthing like "All jews are going to hell" on it or in the EOA, I'm pretty much fine with anything that is on the ads....Too bad there are a few nutballs out there.

Oh! Brother!...What happened to the Good Will Holiday Spirit????
You did right. I am not a Christian, but certainly would not put anyone down for their belief! I wished Happy Holidays to my customers too...So, Xmas, Holidays? It is a time of good will for all...
Why are there always fanatics who wish to push their philosophy down everyone's throat?
What you might do is cancel the bids, write to each that you do not wish to have them bid on your auctiuons and send a CC to [email protected]. When they bid again, send safeharbor the Auction Number. They can be suspended.

I don't celebrate Christmas and yet I think this is nuts.
That was hardly evengelizing in any way.
When people wish me a merry Christmas I thank them in the spirit it was intended.
I would not be surprised if they turn out not to be Jewish either (I am not) Just trouble makers. Save the full headers on the original e-mail and compare with the new bidders. Go to their ISP to have them stopped if you can connect them.

It really is a shame how a random wacko can potentially cause harm to our businesses with little help from the PTB at ebay and little to defend ourselves and our reputations with.

You're dealing with a nutcase. They come in all shapes and forms - religious, non-religious, political, etc.
Take out some insurance by starting a second ID and list some items under it to build up feedback. A good reputation doesn't require a very high feedback number - just little or no negative feedback.

Every year, my grand'children re-tell the story of Hanukkah, and I sing White Xmas right along with them. So far, nothing terrible has happened to any of us...
Anyone remembers TerriT last year? That was so sad!

Most people ARE christians, and I as a Jew recongize that.
The Earth's population is approximately 6 billion. There are 2 billion Christians worldwide. That means there are 4 billion non-Christinas. Looks to me like most people are not Christians.
Not that I'm knockin' it.
It is horrible that is happening to your auctions.
I would say your best bet is contacting his ISP. Notify them what is going on, and point out that now that they are aware of the problem, if they continue to allow him to use their service to defraud you, they may be a party in future law suits.
Of course, he'll probably just get a new ISP. And it would probably just make him out to get you even that much more.
One thing you might be able to do is pull his contact info and see if it's obviously false. If so, Ebay will NARU him immediately.

Terri was a user with very strong Religious beliefs, and not afraid to speak of them. Well, Terri was attacked by wolves and was basically forced out of here. I believe the final thread was called "Melt-Down on AW" or something close to that.
It was sad because a person should not be ostracised because of a strong belief in G-d. There was nothing offensive, no "you will all burn in hell" or any of that...But some took exception...
Edited to add I do believe the name was TerriT

The Japanese are into Christmas big time now but not to worry - it is in it's full commercial glory and nobody there would mistake it as having any conection with religion.
If we called it Saternalia would that be OK because it would be diverse? Originally the church kind of "cleaned up" Saternalia by making it into Christmas. All the old customs were retained but now it was for a new purpose. How ironic if it had to be remolded into the original form to be acceptable again!

Wishing someone a merry Christmas can hardly be construed as evangelizing.
I second the notion that the perpetrators aren't Jewish either.

Patel, take Shoshana's advice. Email the bidders not to bid again, and CC: SafeHarbor. Cancel the bids they've placed. If they bid again, report it to SafeHarbor and the IDs will be NARU. Sorry this happened to you, the individual is obviously sick and very troubled.
