If a package is light enough (under 13 oz.)why would anyone send a package Priority Mail instead of First Class Mail. There seems to be a widespread misconception that Priority is better or faster than First Class. The advertised delivery times for both are the same, 2 to 3 days. The United States Postal Service seems to promote Priority Mail as faster than first class. With the upcoming price increase for Priority Mail, other that the free boxes I can think of no reason for sending a package Priority when First Class is available. First Class, by the way, is going down in price.

Marketing....
I noticed that first class rates over 1 oz were going down as well, which makes me happy. I charge a flat rate of $1 for shipping and handling which covers 95% of my packages. I occasionally have a package that is 4 or 5 ounces and then I eat the extra cost.
I did notice at my post office the other day someone wanted to mail a letter to a local address using Priority and the clerk talked him into using First class and save nearly $3. My post office also encourages you to turn their priority video boxes inside out and use them to send book rate... I thought that was a big no no from the post office's stand point - would not have believed it had I not heard it from the clerk's mouth.

Hardly no one will be useing priority or the free boxes inless it request.
parcel post and frist class is the better deal by far frist class get the same service as priority and parcel post get your mail to your buyer in 3 to 5 day which isa fair deal as well.
free boxes arent a good deal no more when you ship they cost you $1.03 to use and $1.25 for every pound over two you put in them who needs it.
