10) Even if you GET a bid, which is highly unlikely, the winner probably won't PAY!

9) If you DO get a bid, eBay will probably revoke your membership anyway - they do NOT want successful sellers!

8) If you can get past items 9 and 10, the listing, added value, new category, and multiple category listing fees will take care of you in short order!

7) It makes you look foolish!

6) Who wants to be eBay's B****! ????

5) Rules? WHAT RULES? The ones that change every single day and that are applied inconsistently?

4) eBay, in it's sole discretion, reserves the right to DOUBLE YOUR FEES, DECREASE YOUR SALES, REMOVE YOUR LISTINGS and generally B***F*** you as they see fit. Customer service and good product have NO PLACE here!

3) Its kinda like dating Sybil.... I WANT ADULT LISTINGS, I HATE ADULT LISTINGS, I WANT ADULT LISTINGS.....

2) eBay, in its SOLE DISCRETION, reserves the right to TERMINATE ANY LISTING, YOU, OR ANY FAMILY MEMBER OR LOVED ONE AT ANY TIME, REGARDLESS OF GOOD TASTE, FAIRNESS, THE LAW OR APPLICABLE MURDER STATUTES.

1) In the event #2 applies, eBay will allow the sucker (oops... seller...) to auction the remains on eBay, provided that they are listed with a starting bid of one cent, with no reserve, and the bidding does not get "out of control" as defined by eBay. For the definition of "out of control" please refer to reason #9, above.....

Jeff-

Do you sell on ebay?

I sell on ebay and have a great time with it. Brings in extra income everymonth that is more than the FEES. I don't care about the fees. It is just a business cost.

I like ebay because its cheaper to advertise than to place a classified ad my newspaper, there is no limit on the word-length, and I get to expose my items to bidders around the world.

My top resons TO LIST on eBay

***It's less expensive for me than buying a lot at a flea market, sitting under the hot sun 6 months of the year and not at all the rest of the year and I dont need to buy tables to do it

***I am medically unable to work so eBay gives me the opportunity to do something gainful

***I usually have items that people are interested in that will bring me in at least a bit of a profit

***I love going to my mailbox and finding payments instead of bills

***I've actually met some very nice buyers AND sellers that I would not have otherwise met

***I used to work in retail, 9 hours a day, 5 days a week and I'd MUCH rather deal with the outages (even though they annoy me) and other problems that come with eBay than with managers, co workers and all the nastiness of the entire business.

***I have a legit reason to play on the computer all day and all night

And my *top* reason for listing on eBay...

***I get high off of loading "MY EBAY" and seeing green numbers on that page

I guess if you don't like it you probably should just stay away, eh?

If anyone felt like that why in their right mind you even attempt to sell on e bay. I bet you have tons of listings going off today and tomorrow!!
Try the flea markets or real Brick and mortar to do business. Your expenses will more than triple and you'll be dealing a lot more headaches with lots of damaged merchandise, you have to deal with the maintenance of said B/M, high Insurance cost, if you find it reasonable enough to afford, you be tied down to regular hrs, the cons are to numerous to list here or just ignore.

Number 1 is more likely "if you're more interested in making a statement, joining a cause, and/or getting a rise out of AW members than making sales".

I only use eBay to advertise my website. I do agree with a few points Jeff laid out. Their customer service is really bad.

libbyparsons....my list is exactly the same as your list...even with all the items I list at other sites, the bidders and the profit is still at eBay...have to stay where the customers are.

My top reason....I love making money without ever taking off my jammies & leaving the house!

libby I just open the front door...there's the mailbox, and my carrier takes my packages (of course my items are mailed in 9x12 envelopes), so I don't even have to go to the PO. I even bank by mail (I do not own a car and my bank has no branch near me). I have stamps on line...you don't think I am a hermit, do ya?

Seriously, I go out when the snow & ice is not knee deep, and I do have one social night at my card group, and I do go shopping once a week...otherwise I am quite happy to stay home...I guess this happens after 20 years of commuter buses to a corporate job (always late)...ya just gotta love that "hanging out" feelin'! I've been hanging out for a year now and still love it.

Now the only thing that would make this early retirement a lot better is if the bidding would go back to real bidding instead of watching and/or buying..oh well, guess ya have to take the good with the bad...my timing was always off a bit (lot?).

Whether I list this week at eBay or Yahoo or some place else, I love the idea that I am doing something I enjoy and I don't have to get dressed and go out of the house to do it. I make a lot less money but I am not stressed out anymore. Plus, I meet many new friends between my auction customers and these auction related boards.

Ain't life good?!

#1 Reason not to list on eBay

I really don't like the idea of making money because someone might think I am greedy.

The name says it all!! Walmart is having trouble selling CD's (except to kids that split the cost $4 each and some time on the computer gets everyone a copy but who gets to keep the original??)

I like uprivers list better. My wife says I spend too much time in front of the computer but loved that ebay paid fo ra three kids birthdays last year. She loved that ebay paid for our christmas two years ago 100% and 50% last year (I was a bit lazy)

If I told you what I made on ebay (net) over the last two year -part time. I'd be arrested!!

Choose your product wisely and don't pull any sh$%!
Prepare for the worst but hope for the best!! Spuddy98

I am really happy with eBay right now. I started listing again there a couple weeks ago. In two weeks I have made twice what I made on Yahoo in two months last year. And I was listing a lot more cards before. Almost all of my auctions are selling the first time and about half are getting multiple bids. I get a real charge out of checking my auctions every day now!

I started out as a bidder. Then I sold my personal stuff and was making a nice little income. Then because of my experience I was hired to run auctions/websites for others. I am not getting rich yet. I get paid every week, have benefits and got to relocate across the country. My Ebay experience has been good for me.
