I'm new to AW and have multiple copies of one item that I want listed only one at a time. How do I re-list an item after the auction has ended without losing it from my "closed auctions" control panel.

You can copy it and schedule it for a later date. Or copy it and leave it unscheduled in your pending auctions and the launch it whenever you want to.

If you only want one listed at a time....
When auction #1 ends, it moves into your closed auctions, right? So you relist it as auction #2. When #2 ends, it moves into your closed auctions, and you can relist it as #3.
Why won't that work?
Also, AW has some sort of "inventory" that I haven't used so can't tell you much about it, but that would probably work too.

When you re-list the item from your closed auctions list, your ad gets dumped from the closed auctions list and you loose the info, that was in that file.

You mean like bid history, etc.? I'm not sure what you mean about the info you lose.
I will say that for some unknown reason, I sometimes have a closed auction that fails to hold the description and pictures...just a title. When I open it up, there's nothing there. I don't know what causes this, and it's pretty rare.
