Hello everyone!

Today I went to the giving board at ebay and saw that they are doing something called the "Easter Bunny Brigade". You adopt a family and send Easter goodies for the kids. So I went through and found a woman with just one little boy about the same age as my little boy. I figured that that would be the easiest for me since I'm familiar with what he'd like.

Anyway, I decided to do a search with her email address. Low and behold she is selling baby formula by the cases and making a bundle. Plus computer parts, and making $$$$.

Do you think that she is being dishonest? Would you send stuff? I really don't want to now. The "Brigade" is for those in need, not greedy people. I emailed her asking what he needs, but didn't confront her about her $$$ selling. I haven't heard back from her yet.

Stop paying attention to the whiney pants on places like The Giving Board. Look in your own area and I am sure you will find someone that is indeed worthy of your gracious efforts.

This shyster has a computer, an ISP [yes SOME are free]; & is selling cases [! from a WIC program, perhaps?] of formula and computer parts, none of which come free.

Pull her contact info and see what you find under that rock. How is her feedback?

Remember, 'one cent found is better than a penny earned' is a motto that many of these slimers live by.

Good luck.

I've always viewed the Giving Board with a jaundiced eye. Maybe I'm just cynical, but some of the stories I've read there are a little too much "movie of the week". I remember when the Beanie craze was at its height seeing requests for new Beanie Babies for these poor children to play with - but please don't remove the tags! (Eventually those in charge of the board posted the suggestion that you SHOULD remove the tags if you're donating them, to make them virtually non-resaleable).

I agree with Dr. Trooth, if you really want to help someone contact your local Social Services office. Charity does begin at home

Other local agencies you can try: ones that serve people with disabilities, a senior citizen center or senior living home, day care centers, your county's health department, church groups... the list is endless.

Yeah, I was trying to kind and generous and giving. Not support a fake.

And she did make contact with me. It's for a 9 month old boy. She has no other kids. She needs (or should i say wants) clothing and baby food and......formula. What a joke. So I emailed her back about her auctions selling formula, no reply yet.

I think that I'll actually report her ebay. Although I'm quite sure they won't do anything about it.

The proceeds from all my auctions go to help needy children: MINE. All five of them, plus any strays we find around here who need a meal.

But, just because we are poor.....I mean economically challenged, don't get the idea that we sit back doing nothing. We do a lot in our community. Today, I'm babysitting all the kids in the neighborhood who have the day off from school. Their parents have to work and I am saving them from having to lose a day's pay. We serve meals at the local homeless shelter, we provide clothing and toys for the kids in the abuse shelter, we pick up litter on the beaches and roads. It is just part of our life.

But, my days of blindly sending off checks to organizations who spend the bulk of the funds on administration and fundraising costs are over. I don't want my scarce resources spent that way.

See I think thats great. I wish there were more ways to help out around me. I live in Washington state. I don't know if you all know much about our welfare system, but it sucks. It's great if you are in need, but they are sooooo generous that we get a lot of abuse. In this state you can get WIC for food and formula. Food stamps for food. Healthy Options for medical. Section 8 for housing. A check of anywhere from $500 to $1500 a month. Free gas & power, cable TV and water & sewer.

And to qualify for at all, all you have to do is go to a local DSHS and sign a few papers. That's it.

Really it's a better more relaxed cost effective way of living. I mean really. They have everthing paid for for them and still get a check every month too. The more kids they have the more money they get. Why not just sit around, do nothing and pop out those babies. Heck, sounds tempting!

So, needless to say, we a lot of deadbeats out here living off my hard earned tax $$$.

I am trying to find some people who are really in need. Those are the ones I want to help.

I have never been to that board, but I help in my community by crocheting blankets for abused children. You know these children need it, and they love them too! I would suggest you find a local shelter where you live, and you will find a ton of kids that will appreciate what you have to offer! I know cause I have been there, and I know they appreciate just the little things. Good luck to you, and I think it is kind of you to want to help people too!
