No kidding ... the rate of flickering on the "YOU BET" makes me want to VOMIT! It is actually nauseating.

Please check these ads for their annoyance factor before you sign the contracts. I do NOT have AdSubtract at work, so I get the full barrage of flickering, twitching, staggering, blinking attempts to get my attention.

And they wonder why we don't click on the ads ... we're so damned cross-eyed and seasick from all the jiggling letters we can't aim the mouse straight!

Not meaning to be a smart-alec, just curious what you do at work that the AW ads bother you there.

By the way - I hate these ads too! I would like to think AW would have more control (and consideration of their customer base) when they accept these ads.

you can get stop the animated graphics and moving ads, providing they're not java by pressing the ESC key when the page loads.

Yep, me too!
Even when I wasn't looking at it I could see it boldly flashing.
It made me physically nauseated and my eyes felt like they were trying to cross!
I understand needing money...I'd be willing to pay NOT to look at this ad

The Casino "You Bet" ad does cross the line on the annoying factor. Animated ads are a pain but the casino ad crossed over into torture.

I agree with you all so far.
I especially loathe that awful metallic blinking square they had in the bottom of auction-manager. (You'd think that the flashing red X in that same spot last year would have taught the Ad. team something!

I know what you mean IMLDS2, you just can't get away from them , either at the top or the bottom...jumping right into the peripherals ! UgggH.

Remember the story about the flashing cartoon in Japan that caused some kids to have seizures? I swear I feel a grand mal coming on when that ad is displayed.

There is a setting in Windows 98 that turns off animated graphics. It works on the smilies, the casino ads, and the pair of dogs that shows up in someone's sig either here or another board.

Firstover,

"Remember the story about the flashing cartoon in Japan that caused some kids to have seizures? I swear I feel a grand mal coming on

I am sure you know the name of that cartoon! IT is POKEMON! The flashing happened when Pikachu used Electric something or other. And YES this ad does cross that line.

I scroll the page down so I cant see the ad blinking away!

ATTENTION AW: PLEASE FILE A COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS LOAD AND OBNOXIOUS AD! Unfortunately this is a reflection of AW, not just the company in the banner.... but the one who subjects you to the banner!

Seems to be an echo in here today!

abacaxi: I've very glad you clarified that for me! Not that I would ever try to sneak a quick surf on the bosses time....at least not if I thought there was a chance that I might get caught
