In the last hour people here felt a sharp tremor in Vancouver, BC. But apparantly the quake, about 6.1 estimated, was centered around Seattle with some damage already being reported. I don't believe it was catastrophic or anything like that. Let's hope for the best for our eBay friends there.

yes....7.0 on the scale 10 miles NE of Olympia. If you have purchased anything from an Ebay seller anywhere in this area, please be patient with them. It would certainly be the least of my worries during this time.

upgraded to 7.0, centered south of seattle near Olympia, very deep.
Power is out in south seattle to about 17,000 people.
Damage does not appear to be to bad, but there is quite a bid.
Shook us pretty well up here in Everett,WA about 30 miles north of Seattle.

All widgets reported safe and sound.

Old time masonary is taking the worse hit.

My goodness...what a day.

(I live in a neighborhood adjacent to downtown...if it wasn't a deep one, I think I would have had serious trouble. Sigh)

Capriole: Glad to hear the widgets and all of you folks are OK.

I've wondered a few times about how to shelter my collection of bottles, etc. against such an event. One of the reasons I started to sell on eBay was to cut down on the excess of items I have. To me, there's no point in having collectibles in storage if I can't display and enjoy them.

However, at least the items in storage would survive ok (unless a wall collapsed on the boxes). I know of one collector with an incredible collection of advertising of all kinds that filled a large apartment. He packed up virtually the whole thing and put it into storage as he was tired of worrying about damage or theft.

Caapriole:

LOL! I did the same thing! My widgets! My widgets! The worst nightmare for a collector of fragile widgets!

Afterwards I felt like a complete idiot. It's weird how the mind works in an emergency, and yes, I think this is Ebay related, because I got ALL my widgets on Ebay!

But there must have been a widget angel about, because mine are all fine!

It's horrible!! I am at work close to downtown Seattle. I am at 5th floor of a brick building. The whole building roll and move in the back and forward motion. It feel like I was watching some action movie, but this time with me in it. It's aweful, I thought I was going to die and our building is going to collape. It's horrible and no word to describe it. I hope it's not happening again soon!
