Okay, here is what happened.

I had an auction close a month ago. I waited 11 days, and since I had emailed several times and got no reply, I filed NPB. Immediately they emailed and said they would pay. Of course that was 20 days ago. I haven't heard a word from them since. So today I filed FVF.

Tonight I come home and find an email from them. They say they have paid me with PayPal and will I please have NPB mark removed from their name at Ebay.

Since I really don't want to have any more to do with this bidder, I would rather just forget the whole thing.

Can I refuse the payment that was sent to me? If so how? Do I just send it back like I was sending a payment?

Also, can you even take a back a FVF from a users name?

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Send them their money back via Paypal.

The ONLY reason they paid you after all of this time is because you actually followed through with the NPB and FVF forms... otherwise you wouldn't have ever heard from that deadbeat again.

They earned the NPB mark fair and square.

If you no longer want to deal w/this customer, just send the money back w/an explanation that you are returning their money because this item is no longer available.

I think ebay's new procedures are going to allow you to undo an FVF but don't know if it's in place yet. You could try writing to ebay to "undo" the FVF, but if you don't want to, you certainly don't have to.

But they are still going to be able to leave feedback on this transaction.

Just rechecked & here's the url for the non-paying bidder removal form.

http://cgi3.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?RemoveNPBWarningShow

edited to add, it also states it will then reverse the credit you get for the FVF, so it handles it all.

Thanks for all the responses.

I know that Dottie is right, they never would have paid if I hadn't filed FVF. I had heard from them 2 times, and that is when I filed NPB and now when I filed FVF.

I will probably get an underserved neg out of this, but I guess I will have to be strong and try to deal with it.

They have been bidding on things, winning them and paying and getting feedback for them since MY auction ended. That is what irritates me most I guess. If they didn't want my item, they should not have bid on it in the first place.

I am going to send the money back via paypal.(which by the way, I told them check or money order). Email them an un-emotional email simply explaining that I waited a month for payment and now the item is no longer available.

I will probably be back over crying on all you good posters shoulders over the neg I will no doubt get, but those are the breaks.

There is no telling how many people they have done this to who are to afraid to do anything but ignore it for fear of the dreadful "neg".

jwoodcrafts:
I think you have made the right decision!
The only time this happenend to me, it was with a bidder who had won two auctions. The bidder sent me an unsigned check for the amount of only one auction. I e-mailed professionally telling them of their omissions (sig&pmt) and never heard from them until I NPB'ed. Payment came, I shipped both items. When the bidder had the goodies in their hot little hands, I immediately became the owner of my very first neg ~ a very rude and very nasty double whammy, mind you!!!
So, Yes, maybe you will get an undeserved neg, but if you complete the auction, you will reinforce their irresponsibility and might still get that NEG as well!
Good Luck!

Well, I did it.

Now I guess the waiting to see if I get that underserved neg starts.

I sent them the money back and wrote them a factual (spelling?) email, just stating what happened, very unemotional, just the facts.

Now...the wait.

Good Luck.

Remember, if it comes, it'll only hurt for a little while. Just get busy & bury it!

When faced w/a potential neg, I just remember that as a seller, I usually have a greater opportunity to bury it than the buyer does.

If you get one & choose to respond to it, just keep your response very professional & factual. Those people who respond to negs using "LIAR, JERK" & similar language lose major points (and my business) IMHO.
