I didn't even TRY to click on that one, saw "images" and some URL I sure don't recognize, how can one know whether there's a potential bug or even worse, a virus, in that. If that isn't a real synopsis of the chat line, then the poster is sure acting irresponsibly...this bears directly in post November 1 use of these boards, y'all better look out!

Well, if you look at it, I think it has a lot to do with it.
The good guys are sitting there minding their own business, when the evil alien overlord comes down and announces their impending doom.
Then the 'brand' of the doom "All Your Base Are Belong To Us" (aka eBay) is found spread around the globe, written on everything, everywhere you look.
eBay is a website on the internet, but they are not satisfied with being a part of the internet. They are trying to close all their doors and have total control over everything within their domain. This is decidedly anti-internet, because the internet is a tool for communication. It is based on links and the ability for everyone to communicate freely across the globe. eBay is slowly tring to compromise all of this with their changes. They are saying, in effect, "All Your Base Are Belong To Us". Our customers, our items even.
eBay wants to turn us into drop shippers for eBay, just like they have at Half.com. Checkout is the next step toward that. This is why they won't take it off auctions when the seller doesn't opt to use it. It will be mandatory within a year. They are just getting us 'used' to it. That's what they do.

Funny, this will probably be my last post here ever and it isn't even an exit manifesto...
Anyway, Toyranch, I think that all your base thing is just a riot and, I think you're right.
Something is lost in the explanation, though.
I have an "all your base" T-shirt and nobody seems to think it's quite as funny as I do.
In fact I wore it to the mall once and some teenager looked at me in disgust and said, "Computer nerd."
I didn't care, really. I wear it as my own little reminder of how much I hate that big corporate mentality.

I thought it was funnier than heck thinking about it from eBay's perspective of How the World Should Be.
I too thought the chat was absolutely worthless. I could only stand it for about ten minutes. Cracked me up how even though they selected the questions, half the time they didn't even answer them.
