Woke up to a little surprise this morning.
All my auctions have been cancelled by eBay for listing infractions.

This last week is the first time I've ever posted to chat boards. Now all my auctions have been cancelled for violations (I've been using the same format for almost 2 years). Some how I don't think this is a coincidence.

Now eBay only does this if you're reported by another member. So, am I in violation? If eBay says so, then obviously I am. And after reading the explanation that came with the notice, it is clear to me what my mistakes are. Yup, I did that, and that too. Ouch! Won't do that again!

No problem, I don't struggle with this. I'll just change my format and maybe relist someday. For now I'm taking a break from eBay for a while to step back and gain some perspective about this. It's not eBay that has upset me - it's Ebay's house and rules - I ought to abide. I fouled and the penalty has been enforced.

But I definitely will be getting a posting ID and I recommend that you do the same. There are some nasty folks out there with a bit of a sour twist to their make up. As a previous poster noted, you run a good chance of having your auctions interferred with if you post with your seller's ID. I won't make that mistake in the future.

PS - to the person who reported me - you've done your duty and the right thing, but you killed a bunch of charity auctions which were raising funds that were needed for our fund raising drive. Guess we won't be giving that money to any of the causes we support. You can read about them on my about me page which has a link to our group.
The following organizations we contribute to won't thank you either -
Project Smile
The Center for Food Action
Hobbie House
The Valerie Fund
Guiding Eyes for the Blind
CARE
The Local Veteran's Home
The HOBY Foundation
The Center for Children & Youth
Canine Companions for Independence
The Local Fire Department & Rescue Squad
and so on....

Just out of curiosity, what did they find wrong.
I looked at some of your closed auctions and the only thing that even caught my eye was the text in the half.com box listing several book sellers. Could they consider it keyword spamming?

Definitely - you hit it right on the head! Since I'm not actually selling Cliffs or Monarch notes in this auction, it is key word spamming.
Unintentional, but still a foul.

Hi I am sorry to hear of your troubles, but the SAME thing happened to me this week, with almost 150 auctions running, and most had some good bids. I had my web site listed, not linked, and they said its a no, no, I heard yes you , and no you can't, so I took a chance, and I got caught. Not sure as to how, Some one turned me in, as I do not post on the boards there, only here. good luck.

I'm very sorry to hear about your problem. That's a major-time bummer. I got lucky and was winding down prior to a long trip. Only had about 20+ left to go, most with 1 or no bids yet.
So I thumb my nose and splutter raspberries in the stoolpigeon's general direction!!!
Better luck to both of us in the next round!

I learned (somewhat the hard way!) that there are people who post here at AW who will mess with your auctions so you don't want to use your ebay ID as your ID here...

I always thought that it was silly and people were hiding for a more sinister reason when everybody mentioned that this wasn't their ebay ID...I was wrong!

It's just not the people that post here but the lurkers also that can mess with you.

This is the reason I changed my posting ID today.

You are a user with over 1600 feedback and you don't know about "keyword spamming"?

However, I do not believe that your posting on the eBay threads had anything to do with eBay contacting you regarding the auctions that contravened their policies.

Many buyers do not appreciate having to wade through auctions that are totally unrelated to what it is they are searching for. And from what I have read they are not at all reluctant to pass this information to eBay.
