A friend emailed me this, and I think it will help sellers. I put this in the eBay outlook because the yahoo board is slow.

Starting Price or
Reserve Price Listing Fee
$0.01 - $9.99 $0.05
$10.00 - $24.99 $0.15
$25.00 - $49.99 $0.35
$50.00 and up $0.75

Closing Price Final Value Fee
$0 - $25 2.0% of the Closing Price
$25 - $1,000 2.0% of the first $25 ($0.50)
plus 1.0% of the remaining closing price
$1,000 and up 2.0% of the first $25 ($0.50)
plus 1.0% of the first $25-$1000 ($9.75)
plus 0.5% of the remaining closing price

It is my understanding that several PowerSellers that jumped ship from the eBay Titanic Checkout fiasco have been meeting with the folks from Yahoo to discuss what changes Yahoo would have to make to entice them to their site. Also, Yahoo did a survey among their users and promised to make changes that would better meet everyones needs. Listing fees versus FVF were the major issues for sellers.

Very timely announcement!

Yes very good timing indeed. Now for every 9.95 item I sell it will cost .25 instead of .80 cents at ebay. Yahoo's new fees are more than fair in my opinion.

Now if they can just get the buyers to think "Yahoo" instead of "ebay" for auctions.

It would be amusing if Yahoo borrows Pierre's (or was it Meg's?) infamous fee-increase quote to lure sellers away from ebay:

"Listing Auctions on Yahoo: It's Only a Nickel!"

It's fun watching the herd move back and forth between eBay and Yahoo

Looks more like a stampede this time!

exexec ... yes, same stampede just running the other way. Next month, when eBay announces some new feature, they'll all come running back.

Wonder what would happen if both venues came up with a gimmick at the same time? Would the herd annihiliate itself somewhere in the middle??

What a hoot

How soon will your auction site be up, my bovine friend?

Maybe it's just me, but I don't like the "look and feel" of Yahoo Auctions. That's one reason I don't really enjoy using the site. Does anyone else feel the same way?

It could be because I'm so comfortable with eBay, but I don't think that's all.

Dident ebay mention they were planning on RAISING their fees again soon to make their earning projections? I did see on CNBC today about yahoo auctions so it is hitting the media. Actually I like yahoo's format much better than ebay. They mentioned on the news that yahoo allows linking to websites, and will allow the seller to communicate directly with winning bidders. Some big boys are leaving ebay because of checkout. Yahoo picked great timing!

yahoo allows linking to websites, and will allow the seller to communicate directly with winning bidders

and provides a safe haven for the sleaze who sell bootleg videos, DVDs, VCDs, CDs, PC software and other copyrighted works, and gives them free advertising and links to their illegal item listings on their news and entertainment pages.

What more could a person possibly want

Now this is a strong reason to try Yahoo again for certain items I sell. I've been on Bidville, and lately, there is zero activity. I am probably just going to pull auctions from there because of that. At 5 cent listings, I can list a lot and take a small hit.

BTW, decided to give my cc after all. I hope this board stays active, I still am worried about its long term chances, but missed it in the short term.

i never left Yahoo the first big exit they had when fees started. I do not list that much but have been playing more recently. Yahoo is better than the free sites but not much at this time. I get maybe 2 sales a week from them.

I am one of those P word sellers but I will not jump ship, I will cut back since I have a $1300 Bill at eBay. I would sooner pay Yahoo 1/3 of that as long as I have sales to go with it.

Count me in, I will still be there just a little more as I get time to move more listings.

my ebay bill never exceed 500 dollars,so those who have 1000 dollars plus ebay bill, what do you sell and is it profitable after paying all expenses??
on my books,i recognise e-tailing expenses such as rent, salary, internet provider fee,2 phones and long distance bill, depreciation expenses of pc,printer and camera. Also direct expenses such as freight and shipping, supplies, travel, etc

A stampede running over to Yahoo from Ebay? Ya, right..

At 1-3 sales per week it's kind of a non-productive move. Right now business on Yahoo is the worst it's been since I started selling there more than 2 years ago. I attempt to maintain a presence just in case it picks up again some time in the future.

I think the sales picture at Yahoo will get much nicer as more folks are flushed away from ebay by the cost and Iron knuckle Policy changes - It will be nice having an auction link to my website again.
