From Fuckedcompany.com--
Rumor has it ReturnBuy.com laid off 50% -- 60 of 120 employees. Word is the company is toast if more funding doesn't come through by the end of the year. So check it out, their fancy-shmansy website, million of dollars, and jazzy animated logo translate into the following business plan: they hire shitloads of people to grade shitty returned products and post them on eBay under the user ID "returnbuy". flush

Well... perhaps selling on eBay isn't such a good business plan.

is returnbuy.com owned by ebay or ebay has an investment in it??
selling on ebay is truly very labor intensive, there is no way any business can justify the expenses,it is only us who are willing to pretend our time is not worth anything and just keep on listing .

Listing on Ebay is not labor intensive Sheesh.

There are lot of them Items they just scan a page it includes the picture and a discription of the item, new and return items are fairly easy to bulk upload.

Your not talking about Random collectables you hem and haw over the starting bid for spend 3 days trying to figure out what it is and cleaning and farting around with lighting trying to get it pictured from its best side.

They just scan or take a picture of it state if its complete or parts are missing and set a price of 20% to 40% below whole sale.

Most have a large storage unit or small warehouse where they keep all the items do all the listing and packing or they out source the packing and shipping to a privite company.

3 or 4 people could handle 300 to 500 sales a daily easy this is one of the reasons for the new checkout system makes end of the sales much easyer to handle volume sales

The most labor intensive part of selling returns is feild people to go out and find the the source of inventory to keep selling..

How do you figure? I see the Checkout e-mails as spam more than anything else. BillPoint Visa/MC payments are the only e-mails that count. The electronic check payments get ignored.

How much do you know about the business?
most wholesalers have arrangement with stores to buy returns from them, these wholesalers advertise and have salesmen who will call and inform you of what they have.
what do you want -truckload? 1/2 truckload??

I figure that because people come they buy my Item they go through check out they pay with credit card right there and then and I have there mailing address I pack up the Item and I ship it out I give feed back.

Before Checkout Wait days on end for the auction to end, Then spend days and days sending out notices dealing with Excuses .

Even when a buyer goes through Checkout and decides to send a check they get my name and address right then to put there money order or check in the mail..

only time I get any mail about checkout is when the buyer chooses to send a check or money order other wise the payment is seamless the only notice I get is billpoint or paypal notice I been paid..

My time is valuble and the time it take me to complete these sales has gone from 7 to 20 days down to under 40 hours from end of sale till the item is at the buyers door..

If the buyer uses BillPoint this does make the payment process quicker.

> Before Checkout Wait days on end for the auction to end,

huh? You mean you didn't wait days on end before?

You're lucky then. I often get Checkout notices that state they are using the "other" payment method and then a Paypal payment e-mail follows. But this only happens if I can't get my Confirmation e-mail out quickly.

I'm glad Checkout has allowed you to be more productive. It helps me most of the time too, but there are a few quirks with it that seems useless to me.

I don't wait days on end for auction to end because more people are useing buy it now my auction ends within 2 to 12 hour of launching.

I have only had two items actually bid on in nearly three months.

So, what does this have to do with Checkout? This has been around since BillPoint introduced the 'Instant Purchase' option. I think your praise about Checkout may be unwarranted for the specific reasons you list.

this check out feature has actually created more work and headache for me.may be some of us have found way to circumvent it,please advise how.
i have a preferred account with paypal, use its debit card for purchases and receive a 1 1/2% rebate.
i agree to offer paypal as the only online payment in my item page.
so i have to make sure when i list an item i have to specify no checkout.
when i relisted an old item before this check out was introduced, ebay will automatically default my item to checkout ,when paypal finds out ,it suspended my privilege of getting a 1 1/2 % rebate on my debit card.it is becoming a big pain, getting such suspension letter to paypal.getting restated, getting suspended again.
until ebay makes programming changes to my selling page for sellers to specify checkout option,i have to check each item when relisting or while listing a new item, make sure no checkout is specified.
it is getting to a point i may just go with checkout,it saves me time and confusion.
how do you folks handle this??
