I was giving my brain the day off today, and did some surfing of some of the auctions out there.
I came across 2 that gave me a chuckle.
One was for a slightly used shirt. The shirt looked really nice and new, but the picture was hilarious. The picture was of the shirt laying on a tile floor all spread out so you could see the whole shirt. But also in the picture, you could see about 1 foot away from the shirt, was 2 cat litter boxes that were in a real need of being cleaned. You could see a pile of dirty clothes on the other side of the shirt, and also in the corner of the picture you could see a tire, as if this was taken in the sellers garage.
BUT, the item had a bid, which was more than I could say for any of my auctions!
The second item I found was for an 11 inch mini skirt. To my surprise, I could get this in a size 5XL! I tried to visualize this concept and came to the conclusing that if I were to buy a 5XL 11 inch mini skirt, I could probably only use it as a garter!
It's been really fun to take some time off instead of watching my listings, or thinking up new marketing ideas. I really enjoyed my surfing "finds" and want to know what curious "made you look twice" items you have found while surfing.
I think it's only fair to ask not to post the seller or bidders ID, this is just for fun, not for ridicule.
Of course, my most embarrasing auction was when I listed a Cardinal Bird Shirt, and in the description, I forgot to put the "R" in the word "shirt".... of course I didn't notice it until a potential bidder questioned me about it! Talk about a face as red as the Cardinal!!!

sunny, I like the 5X mini skirt! And that's coming from a 3X person. While perusing the plus size clothing one day I found a pair of hot pink velour stretch pants..... And then there was the white bike shorts....there is a fine line between style and obnoxious!

I am a 3x size also and my favorite in the plus size clothes was a see through teddy with crotchless bottoms, LOL, I'll take 2 of those!!!
there are some strange pics in auctions. I was looking for a nativity piece and found one that the picture was blurry it looked like melted candle wax. in the description they had added, "the picture does not do justice to this piece". You think? LOL
I actually bid and won that piece, it is gorgeous.

I sold a life size, cardboard, stand up picture of John Wayne for $35.00. And my mom's old contact lenses brought in $80.00 in the quack medical devices category. They were pretty gruesome. The first ones they came out with. They covered her entire eyeballs and she told me they poured some kind of plaster of paris in each eye to make the mold for them. So I put this in the description and added some animated gif's, dripping blood and ants crawling across the screen. We couldn't get over all the people who bid on them.
For the first time, it made me wish I never threw anything away.

Dryer lint. 18 bids, topped out at $17.83, and they paid promptly, and gave positive feedback. And I don't even want to guess what they did with it...........

I save dryer lint all year. In the Spring I put it outside & it's gone in a day. Birds & other animals gather it up for nesting material.
I live in the woods & there are many animals that take it, but mostly the birds.

Hmmm, I save all my dryer lint until the wastebasket in the laundry room is full; then I put in the trash. Guess I must be foolish.

Not funny - exactly...and really doesn't compare to dryer lint but....
I recently bought a shredder and have been shredding all the extra paper in my life - it's kinda fun actually (but that's worthy of a separate post).
Anyway, I pack my necklaces and other light not too breakable items in this "recycled packing material" and mark it as "recycled packing material - shredded paper" to not annoy the recipients too much. Well, one day I found I had 3 garbage bags too much and rather than simply throwing it out I figured it was worth the $.30 to find out if someone would buy it. They did - 5 lbs of it. I only made $1.20 as it cost me $8 to send it, but I couldn't believe someone paid $9some for shredded paper?!
Still, it doesn't beat the dryer lint one... perhaps I'll try that someday so that my husband will have an even better story to tell my relatives about how crazy eBay is...
