Don't ask me a question from E-Bay,because I will delete it! I am so sick of getting a virus from E-bay trying to answer buyers questions! I will never answer another one again! I have had so many viruses from E-bay this week that I am about to quit Buying & Selling on E-Bay Forever. Rather work a public job anytime! Not worth it.

Better yet get Some Virus software. I have gotten that virus about 6 times so far but it is caught and deleted everytime. Mcafee.com is the one I use but they all seem to be about the same.

Wow, that sounds odd. Lots of luck. You could always block the e-bay address from your e-mail but that may result in being narued. Hope you don't decide to stop. The virus will run its course soon and as viruses go it's pretty harmless.

I'm just glad most of my income isn't from E-Bay anymore. Got three more viruses tonight.

Virus software doesn't stop you from "getting" it. You have to "have" it for the software to see it. The software just isolates it and informs you. If you have Norton (and in EVERY test report I've ever seen, it is rated the best) and it's properly installed and updated, I wouldn't be annoyed it is catching viruses and it only takes seconds to delete them from quarantine.

The way virus software works is this: The software recognizes the virus in the email, tells you so you don't open the attachment. Then you delete the email. Then you empty your deleted items folder.

What I do is I delete all my junk mail before I open it. I only open mail if I recognize the address. With the eBay mail I don't open attachments. I guess I am just lucky (keeping my fingers, toes and anything else to cross) have only gotten 1 virus from an ebay buyer. Are you getting the virus from ebay itself or from your buyers?

Well-I am not too up on how everything works, but this AM I received a notice from my ISP that someone had tried to send me an email that tested positive for a virus and had not been delivered. The identified virus was W32/BadTrans@MM . It was from a seller whose name I remembered from months ago! The subject line was "RE: Seller's Question #XXXXXXXXXX. I had originally asked this seller a question about one of his auctions but had ended up NOT winning.
Here it is almost 6months later and I am supposedly getting an email from him with the original subject line in tact...not one of the usual virus subject lines like "look at this" or "need your opinion". There also did not appear to be an attachment that I would have been asked to open. Looked just like a regular email.
My question: did this come from the seller's email program or from eBay's automated system?????

If you are worried about viruses, switch to web based email and don't open attachments.

Im not an expert at computer viruses but I dont believe your getting virus infections from asking questions. The way this current virus works is someone or several people are sent the virus as an email attachement. eventually one person will download the attachement (not knowing any better) The virus installs on their computer and sends itself to everyone in the address book using The last subject line sent to that address or a random subject line from the users mailbox. You got it because your address was in someones addr book when they were infected and then you opened the attachement. Upgrade your browser to at least IE5.5 with the new security package and use your AV software and firewall if you have it. Never download an attachement from email and you wont have trouble.
Luck to Ya
