I had a message today from eBay to say that my credit card company had denied payment on my card, so it has been removed. It tried to register another card, error message, tried to send one time payment, error message. Our credit cards are good, no problem. Anyone else had the same message, or is it just me?

Same problem here!
I call my CC and they had no record of ebay making an attempt to put the charge through.

I emailed ebay. Have not heard anything from them.

I too went to my CC info and it was blank. Wonder where it all went?

THis is what ebay had to say:

We are aware that
your credit card payment was declined. I am sorry for the frustration
this may have caused.

We have alerted our engineers to this situation and they are working to
correct it as soon as possible. Your account balance should be deducted
from your credit card as normal on the next billing date.

Please do not make a one-time payment at this time. Due to systematic
payment processes, a one-time payment may cause your account to be
double billed. Should any finance charges be applied to your account as
a direct result of this issue, please notify us and we will be happy to
reverse the charges.

I had the same message from eBay yesterday. I changed credit cards because I didn't want to chance being suspended if they tried again and it didn't work. I should have known it was an eBay error.

Both my husband and I got the same message from eBay (we have separate eBay accounts). I immediately contacted our bank and they informed me that they had no record of eBay ever even attempting to debit the account. I then called eBay and, after going through about four automated menus, I was finally able to talk to someone. They said that it was a software "glitsch" and that the engineers were working on it. According to a message posted by a seller on eBay someone there told him that all the expiration dates on the credit or debit cards were wrong, which is why the banks and credit card companies spit them back. This is going to cost eBay a few $$$!

I received the same notice yesterday also. I checked with my credit card company and they advised that eBay had made an attempt on 01/10/2002, but that it appeared denied due to wrong expiration year. I went in an updated my credit card (with the same exact information) but did not make a payment. They had used this same credit card on Dec 10 or 12. Ebay has been so busy with new ideas and auctions and TV series, this is probably their delayed Y2K problem!

Thanks for the comments. Glad to know that I was not the only one to receive the message, it has me worried.

Howdy -

Got a similar notice from the Electronic Bay, as well. I immediately called my bank and they did a transaction review, and saw that an incorrect expiration date was entered for the Card in question, and gave me a phone number to call at eBay to get it resolved. I called and a very nice customer service representative reviewed the situation and helped me get it corrected. I must say, in this case, eBay's performance was very good, and user friendly.

I got one of those notes too, I was worried that maybe someone had stolen my credit card and ran up the balance or something. I called the credit card company and they said an attempt was made but some wrong numbers were used. I wish EBAY would not scare us like that.

I received it also. I hurried and changed by CC also to make sure I wasn't suspended, then I went in and looked at the credit card I had posted and it was okay. Thank goodness I wasn't the only one. My husband thought I maxed out my credit card

Just received this email from ebay -
Dear eBay Seller:

Over the past few days you may have received an email from eBay indicating that a transaction charged to your credit or debit card, which you placed on file for billing purposes, was declined. Unfortunately, both the card decline and the resulting email were processed and sent in error. Please disregard the prior email. As a result of the decline your card may have been removed. If your card was removed we will automatically place your card back on file.

eBay will re-attempt to charge your card within the next 10 days. No action is required by you to resolve this issue.

We apologize for any inconvenience this situation may have caused.

Regards,
eBay
