I am thinking of adding this to my auctions, read it carefully. What do you think, will it work to get more bids, will Ebay allow it?

I will give free shipping on this item along with any combination or number of my other auctions as long as you are the winning bidder of this auction as well. If you are the winning bidder of one or more of my other auctions but not the winner of this auction then shipping will be as stated in that/those auctions. The catch to this is to be the winner of this auction along with any of my other auctions to get the free shipping. If you are the winner of just this auction then the below shipping charges will apply

HUH? I get it but its way to wordy. Why not say "Free shipping on this auction if you win one or more of my other auctions"?

It appears that you are putting that statement in just one particular auction?

Yes, I agree it is kinda wordy but I just dont want any misunderstandings.

To just say "Free shipping on this auction if you win one or more of my other auctions" might bring on misunderstandings.

I want to offer free shipping on all other auctions won as well. In otherwords this is an incentive to bidders to be the winner of one or more auctions and an incentive to also view my other auctions.

And yes I am putting it in just one auction to try it out.

Edited to say; I am starting the bidding at one penny and without a reserve.

i agree with katmommy, way way too wordy.

the long paragraph will lead to the confusion you are hoping to avoid. go with the one liner and it sounds great.

There are a lot of bidders on eBay and other online auctions that are easily confused with shipping terms.
You gotta be careful with these bidders.

yellowstone:

How can my suggestion on wording be misunderstanding. It sounds quite clear to me. If you want to have the incentive on ALL your auctions then just say:

"Free shipping if you win 2 or more of my auctions".

But I'd use
"Free shipping for winning bidder on this auction if you win one or more of my other auctions" if you were trying it out on just 1 auction.

Your original post doesnt make sence if you want that type of incentive statement on all your auctions though.

How about this?

"The winner of this auction is entitled to free shipping along with all of my other auctions you may have won. Please note: in order to have the free shipping, you must first win this auction. All items are FOB ____ (seller's location."

I had to read the original one 3 times before I figured it out.

Try a one liner it will avoid tons of confusion.

You should definitely place a TIME LIMIT.
Say I win the auction on 02/01 and I have a high bid on one that ends 02/07, I loose the 02/07 one but then become the high bidder on one that ends 02/14, loose that but am the high bidder on one that ends 02/21 and so on and so on.

You could end up with a big time mess.

There now, you see, that's exactly what I like about this place. You can post a question and knowledgeable folks will give you all kinds of positive responses.

I think I will go with a one liner.

Hey that reminds me of a joke; What sort of jokes do cocaine addicts not like to hear?

Answer; One liners <smile>

If I read this I would wonder!
How can they be free if I'm paying the higher of them all. And Will they be able to ship them together or will I be paying full price for them all in the end!

If you are willing to ship free if the buyer wins more than one item, why not somethig like:
Free shipping on all multiple wins!
Have fun bidding remember, the more you win the more you save!

People get confused no matter how simple you state it. I used to say "No credit cards accepted through Paypal", and I'd get twenty payments with credit cards through Paypal every month.

I don't make offers like yours because you're just asking for some dumbwit to give you a neg because he didn't understand your offer.

Just an update, I decided not to use it in my auctions. As some of you have stated it might be too confusing to some bidders and I guess I have to agree.

So I guess i'll just continue to charge really high prices for shipping on my auctions.
