I have an ebay item that I decided to allow international bids and shipping hoping the international collectors' interest might bring a better sale. This is the first time international for me, and now I'm getting nervous (be gentle with me, it's my first time HA!). The starting bid is will be $500. I've already had contact from several potential bidders, including international, and I think the item will sell. What have you international sellers found to be the best shipping method? The item is small, about 6" at its greatest dim. Can I depend on the insurance with an international package, or will it be throwing money away? If buyer goes with PayPal, what are my odds of getting screwed once I send the item out? Can an international money order be cancelled and me stuck holding an empty bag? I'd appreciate information on these questions and other concerns you more experienced international sellers can address. I'm getting to be an old worry wart.

intl postal order such as canada and japan cannot be cancelled, just like our usps postal order.
you have no seller protection with pyapal when it comes to intl shippingaddress.
so you have know your buyer and read his feedback.
when it comes to shipping, usps express or first class is good for such items, express is expensive buttrackable and insured up to 500,no etxra charge to you.
first class air ,you haveto buy your own insurance, rate is same as domestic insurance.
fed exp and ups are both more expensive, but check to see if the fee includes customs duty.

Bidpay is great and safe! They go up to seven hundred dollars now.

Anything over that ask for a international money order in us funds.

now that you said it's a fish I see it
definitly insure it,
this sound mean but I'm from europe
so it's from personal experience....
everything that is not insured has a great possibily of being stolen
(last time my husband shipped watch - not insured, never got there...
when I shipped a no name purse but insured,
my sister got it no problem...)

bidpay is great (you can ship on confirmation safely)
and no chargebacks...

No way I would accept a credit card for a $500 purchase from most places overseas - Western Union is great, and Bidpay. $5 is pretty small if the purchase price will be over $500
