Hi everyone!

Have had an AW account for awhile, but don't sell alot and haven't done any selling for close to a year. Ready to jump back in and have noticed alot of new changes on Ebay since I last sold. Makes me a little nervous and would like to solicit some advice. I am currently set up to accept Billpoint, Bidpay, PayPal, money orders and personal checks and do not want to use Ebay's checkout feature (after reading all the negative comments regarding this feature). Has it improved any? If so, does this feature work well if all of my items are different? If not, how do I ensure this feature is shut off in my auctions? Any updates or advice on my payment options other than using PayPal at my own risk (havn't decided yet if I will continue to offer it)? Finally, any other new features or updates that I should definitely be aware of? BTW, I use AW to launch my auctions. Thanks for all of your help, you all are always a wealth of information!

I avoided checkout for a long time then decided to join Billpoint and use checkout. I like it. I have noticed that since I began using it my payments come through faster ... even mailed payments. It is an easy way for customers to get your contact information.

I might feel differently if I used my home information but I do not.

I don't think there is a way to shut off this in-your-face feature. I just state in every listing to "skip eBay's checkout" and that I do not honor it.

I notice a lot of other sellers do the same.

Yes, checkout can be turned off, I can't remember how, but I found out about it on this board. I don't have to worry about the duplicate emails anymore from confused buyers.

i think you can turn the feature off in your ebay preference section

You can go to ebay site preferences on the account tab and check the box for no checkout specifics. This will do away with the checkout button.

Thank you all for your responses. One final question. If I opt to use Billpoint, does that mean I have to use checkout? Thanks again for your help.

I have checked the box not to display a checkout button, but I still get 10 or 20 letters a week from ebay telling me that a customer wants to know the total. What can I do to prevent this? How do I get them to stop this? I never had this until Ebay started the checkout Feature.

Checkout Preferences may be set in My eBay under the "Selling" and "Preferences" tabs. With
these preferences, members can opt out of displaying the Checkout button, update their payment
address and allow a buyer to edit or enter the total. Please note that the default for allowing a
buyer to edit or enter the total will be set to off for all sellers except those registered to sell with
eBay Payments; those sellers will have the default set to on. The settings chosen in Checkout
Preferences will apply to all new items by that seller. Revised or relisted items listed today or later
will also be affected by the Checkout Preferences.

Thank you all for your generous help. I have followed your advice and was able to opt out of checkout via my selling preferences. Thanks again.
