Well my mistake, my user name and e-mail are the same,(on e-bay they say if I had my full address before when I changed ID I had to use it again) that includes the .aol.com part? I like things simple. Now because of this my buyers are instant messaging, I don't even talk to family like that, to busy when I am online. I don't want to make them made and ruin feed back, any ideas, I have a bunch of wierd buyers this month!
Thanks

you can turn the IM off or set up it to have just the people you want on your list. Some of my customer have become friends but I moved them over to my personal account. I don't have time to IM all day!

A friend of mine is going through the exact same thing, she also said this is the worst it is ever been, It is driving her nuts, she can not get anything done, she has 4 right now that are just driving her up a wall. she was able tp put up some kind of message that reads she is on-line but not able to receive instant messages at this time. I am sure this is a help section to your IM, or even a preference selections. She even mentioned she was getting some instant messages from people that were planning to bid, she also said it is because her aol.com is in her ebay screen name.

Its easy to turn off instant message on AOL. Go up to the im screen and in the header box type in:
$im_off then go to the message box and just type something in. Hit send and you will get a message that you are now ignoring messages. To turn it back on, type in $im_on and repeat. Hope this helps.

Or just click on the away notice on the bottom of your buddy list...you can also put your note in..so as not to appear rude, you might want to just say you are busy working right now, getting out eBay orders. Ask them to please write an email and you will get back to them. Be sure to click on your away before you get off, to check your messages.
You can also click on the bottom of the Buddy list, set up/pref's/privacy, and either the people you list, all the people, or just aol instane message users.

MRFOXY76, click on Settings on the toolbar, then on Privacy. Set your preferences on the "Privacy" tab, and they will affect IMs as well. Be sure to check the IM tab to be sure there is nothing else you have to do.

AOL lets you choose LOTS of options, I allow only people on my buddy list to send me messages. Just click on setup, then the privacy tab.

I had same problem with IM, but don't have AOL. I was set up to only receive from Private List, but one hacker kept getting through. I had my husband remove the whole thing; never replaced it. It was from a 14 girl in Switzerland, wanted to get to know me.
We were able to block all other hackers but that one.
lurking is not an option
