I'd like to know what use there is in not being able to ADD to a description on an auction? I understand not being able to MODIFY, but what harm is there in ADDING?

I have a wrong measurement on a piece of clothing and because the auction closes in less than 12 hours eBay won't let me add to my description. I think that's stupid, with a capital S!&(%)$

Anyway, I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and let it ride, but it would be nice to let everyone know the REAL measurement of this cute piece. Sigh.............

You can always email your bidders to let them know. Just click on their username...

Yes, I did that already, luckily the person who bid on it assumed it was a typo anyway, so no harm done there, but how does eBay expect us to notifiy POTENTIAL bidders of a problem in an auction, seems like a really dumb idea to me.

Granted, it should have been correct in the first place, but I am human, not machine and I DO make mistakes from time to time.

While the frustration is understandable, and I have been in the same boat, I think the idea is that bidders should be able to put in their max, or schedule a snipe, and not have to check every hour to see if something is added. I have added a couple of times with info that really could have changed the nature of the listing, especially if the bidders didn't happen to be watching continually. All in all, I think it is a good policy.

I had the same problem a while back and was frustrated. But I think the reasons given here by others as to why it's not allowed are valid.

The lesson I've had to learn IMHO is that I need to read the auction description more carefully before I actually launch. Sometimes I'm in a big hurry and forget an important piece of information about the item.

But I hate the thought of looking at each auction right after it's launched and going through the changes necessary.

I think ideally we'd each have a buddy who would look at OUR auctions (and we'd look at hers) to see if they're clear and concise. . . . I don't think that will happen!

I was under the impression that if an item had something added to it, then the bidders list would be notified of a change and a link to the listing on ebay. But then of course sometimes I believe that the sky should be purple and my hands shouldn't hurt when the sky clouds up...hopeful wishes...
