PLEASE HELP!

Our elementary school is having a silent auction. As a donation, we have just received an autographed bat and an autographed ball. Signed by Todd Helton of the Colorado Rockies.

I have NO KNOWLEDGE in this area aat all.

The question is
Should we keep the 2 items together? Or auction them separately?

Of course we want to get as much money out of these items as we can.

Any idea how/where I can find out the value of these items?

Thanks!

Auction them individually. The ball is worth perhaps 99.00 if signed on the "sweet spot".

The value of the bat depends upon the style and type of bat signed. Could be worth anywhere from 100-500 depending on type.

Where is the "sweet spot" of the ball?

I will have the bat and ball in my hands on Wednesday. I could tell you what kind of bat it is then.

Thanks!

The sweet spot is where the seams of the baseball are closest to one another. There is just enough room for one to sign in this area.

RichieRich-Be sure you have the "COA" to go along with the bat and ball, so if in the future the person wants to sell it they have proof that he was the signer...

Can you tell me how I can get a COA?

I know it is real but I agree we should have one. It might sell better too.

Does anyone know where/how we would get a COA?

As far as Getting a "Certificate of Authenticity", you need to go to who Gave you these items and see if they "might" have it . I wouldn't be Pushy about this, I think (granted this is me here) that "Faking" autographs is on The way Out, too many problems for those People who were doing that, albeit when they got Caught. Just ask Nicely if they had one or better yet if they got it signed in person, a photo of it happening (tell them it Might help the Bidding). If you are Auctioning this off in a Colorado market, Note some of Helton Career Highlights when you auction it (he's a Good Ballplayer). Good Luck with the Auction.

We received the items directly from the general manager of the Rockies. I did think of asking for a COA but since the person that had the contact with him is not directly linked to the school we did not want to push the issue. And we really appreciated him asking.

Since this person has a direct contact with the team I know it is legit. Sad to say there are no photos either.

We are just South of Denver - so the Todd Helton fans should be here too!

I have been doing some research tonight. He is a good player! My research will be displayed with the items.

The ball is signed in the "sweet spot".

The bat is a full size #125 Louisville Slugger wooden bat. It is marked Genuine Colorado Rockies Louisville Slugger.
