I shipped a package insured, USPS priority, with delivery confirmation on Friday, April 12th. Using the DC number, the USPS web site says the package was delivered on Monday, April 15th. My buyer says he never received it and I believe him. I went to the post office on the 22nd and they looked the shipment up by the insurance number. Lo and behold, it confirms the delivery day but says there is no signature available. What’s going on here? How did they deliver an insured package without getting a signature? The clerk suggested I wait the 30 days and submit a claim. Has this happened of any of you?

If the insured value was $50 or under, a signature is not required for delivery.

she said usps was able to look up the shipment with the insurance number,so it must be the blue slip for over 50 dollars and require a signature.
but postmen are known to hurry up and go home before dark for their din din and leave insured package somewhere without asking for signature.

It was insured for $200.

You will have to wait 30 days to file a claim for a lost package, but you can initiate a trace now. For $200, the mail delivery person should have obtained a signature for delivery, yet they only scanned the dc ticket on the package and delivered it...?

The Post Office is clearly in the wrong on this one. Don't fool around with clerks who only want you to go away. Politely but firmly insist on speaking to the Postmaster. You'll get results.

I get several green Return Receipt cards
back per year with no signature, no postmark,
or both (all insured for $51 or over). The
guy who delivers my mail often dumps it on
top of the outgoing mail with taking that
out first, requiring me to drive my own mail
to the P.O. They raise their rates every
18 months or so, and the lines never get
any shorter. At one time the P.O. used to
deliver twice a day, 7 days a week? And now
they want to cut out Saturday deliveries too!
And they spend OUR money renting Grand Central
Station to hold a party in! They are full
of it, and need to be totally privatized!

Sorry for the vent...
