Can someone tell me what to do here? The first WBN you send someone has the shipping quote. How can you make a shipping quote when you don't know the person's zip code yet? I have digital scales and the whole setup but they don't do me any good quoting shipping charges when I don't have all the info yet. Thanks.

I believe a lot of people (myself included) are weighing the item and plugging in the farthest zip code and using that as a fixed price. I'm not charging actual shipping - too much of a hassle. Most of my items are under a pound, though, and anything over 3 pounds I ship UPS now.

I am now shipping everything via FedEx Ground
I am using zone 8 & the estmated wgt of the sale. Most of my sales run between 2 & 5 lbs.

As: ihula, Said.
Using a fixed longest distance has worked for me for year's!
I only get zip for combined sales, I give actuall shipping for multiple bid's.

I have sold a lot of heavy items so I am use to having to charge by zones. I just email the winner and ask for their shipping address so you can figure the total. Most buyers email their shipping address without being asked.

WITH A ZIP CODE ON THE FEED BACK PAGE. THERE IS NO NEED FOR A WINNING BIDDER NOTICE. YOU HAVE THE ZIP, YOU FIGURE THE RATE, YOU SEND THEM A VERY NICE E MAIL THAT SAYS YOUR TOTAL IS $55.56. PLEASE SEND YOUR PAYMENT TO:

JOHN SMITH
123 N. MAIN ST.
ANYTOWN,
90000.

IN A WEEK WHEN YOU DON'T HEAR FROM THEM, RE SEND THE E MAIL AGAIN. NO TYPING. SO EASY. THAT PLEASE SEND YOUR COMPLETE ADDRESS, I STILL GET,,,,,,,ZIP CODE 90000, THAT WILL MAKE A FINE MAILING LABEL DONCHA THINK.

FROM MY END I HAVE DONE MY BUSINESS.....SENT THEM THE RATE.......WHAT THEY WANT TO SEND AS AN ADDRESS IS ENTIRELY UP TO THEM. JUST HOPE THE POSTMAN CAN READ THE SCRIBBLED ADDRESS. YOU THAT KNOW, KNOW THAT I KNOW. YA KNOW.

HERE IS JUST A SMPLE OF A GREAT COMPLETE ADDRESS.

hi my name is jimmy i live in new mexico 123 n. main st. and my zip code is 90000. thank you.

I ALTER NOTHING, AS IT IS THE SENDERS ADDRESS. THEY KNOW IT BETTER THAN I. WHO AM I TO ALTER IT. THE POST OFFICE PEOPLE USE TO GIVE ME THESE,,,,,,,,STARES,,,,,,,,NOW THEY KNOW.

THINK I AM BEING SARCASTIC? NOPE. REALITY.

I try and do actual shipping charges with a small handling charge. In my WBN I say what the postage is and then I say if I have overcharged you 1 dollar or more I will send the dollar back. i.e. 90cents no refund. $1.25 a refund of $1.00.
