.Greetings from the eBay Watch Team!
You are receiving this email because you are among the most valued Watch
Sellers on eBay and we wanted to inform you of an exciting new feature for
the watch category that was released in late June - Attributes! Are you
currently using attributes (also known as "item specifics" in your watch
listings? If not, we encourage you to start using this feature soon.
If you sell brand watches on eBay, it is important that you start using
attributes in your listings. Attributes will begin to play an increasingly
important role in how buyers search for your listings - particularly in
terms of watch brand. In about a week, eBay will remove the brand name
structure under the Wristwatch category. Wristwatches will be the lowest
level within the site categories. At that time, buyers will locate the
watch brand of their choice using the eBay Product Finder rather than
browsing through the brand name categories. Buyers will have a more
difficult time finding your watches if you are not using attributes.
Below are just some of the benefits of attributes...
Why use Attributes (Item Specifics)?
- Quickly reveals key buying criteria
- Describes criteria in a common language
(e.g. Features, Gender, Age, etc)
- Quick refinement by criteria of importance
- Allows key dimensions not well-represented
by categories (e.g. Watch Style)
Why you should add Attributes to your listings?
- Buyers who use the Product Finder will
only see your items if you complete the
Attributes information
- Buyers really value the product finder
- Faster and easier to use
- Quickly and accurately narrows the search
- Listings with Item Specifics on average
drive 30% more bids than other items*

Jaymac,

What eBay means if you are selling an Hamilton watch there is a specific catagory for that brand as there are catagories for many other brands. There is a sentence below the box where you enter your catagory in AW and there is a clickagle link to eBays catagories. Go to the Gem, Jewelry & Watch catagory and in the lower right corner you will find the number for your specific watch and enter that into the box after the place where you insert Gen, Jewelry & Watch. I hope you understand because it is difficult to explain. Good Luck.

If it's like the "listing error #485" I got when trying to list football tickets through AW, then you can't list the watch through AW and have to list directly through eBay. AW says they're trying to get the "attributes" process in place for AW but it might take awhile...so, for now, have to list through eBay. That's the case, anyway, for "attribute-specific" football tickets.

Tuna1 ... Just went back and dumped all my watches into the big pot of "wristwatches" for tonight's auctions. Noticed when I edited them on AW that all the brand name watch catagories are now gone from the selection. Also went on line and revised those which don't have bids on them to reflect the "attributes" which it appears eBay now plans on using in their search engine for watches. It is there you'll find the brand names again.
Libra63 ... hate to disagree, but as separate catagories, those brand name numbers no longer exist. Set up an auction via AW and pull down "Jewlery, gems, etc", then click on "watches" and then "wristwatches". That ends your choices where before you could further click "brand name" and then "Seiko" for instance. We need some AW help here and pronto.

Jaymac,
that is what I was afraid I was going to have to do.I only have about 7 errors from last night. That does not concern me that much but starting Tuesday I have a lot of watches to list and I really neeed to get this attributes thing worked out.I also have about 50 relists that I was going to do in a week or so and now I will have to go back and edit all the wristwatches, the pockets will go back to the original categories but not the wrists
