9/11/01
I work 3rd shift so I was just getting home. I was laying on the couch watching Bryant Gumble and Jane Clayson when it all began. I was riveted to the set for the next three weeks. Goo bless all who have been impacted one year later.

I was in the hospital, I had surgery the day before, was really dopey that morning. An orderly came to take the fellow in the other bed down for X-Rays & mentioned the big plane crash in NYC. I turned on the TV & didn't shut off for 24 hrs.

I GOT AN E MAIL FROM A FRIEND THAT SAID OUR NEW YORK BUILDINGS WERE BEING BLOWN UP.

AND THEN WHAT DID I DO, I WATCHED IN HORROR ON T.V. THEN THE OTHER TWO PLANES. MY GOD! I HEARD THE CALL FOR BLOOD.

I SHOT OFF TO THE THE NEAREST CIVILIAN HOSPITAL. (THEY HAD NO IDEA, UNBELIEVABLE AS THAT SOUNDS WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT, THAT I WAS THERE TO GIVE BLOOD, THE SOONER THE BETTER. I LEFT.

I SHOT OFF TO THE LOS ANGELES AIR FORCE BASE. THEY WERE AT THAT VERY DAY MOMENT INSTALLING BARRICADES AT THE MAIN ENTRANCE. SO MUCH FOR THAT IDEA.
(I JUST WENT THERE YESTERDAY FOR AN UNRELATED REASON AND THE ENTRANCES NOW HAVE PERMANENT ZIG, ZAG BARRICADES TO GET IN. NO STRAIGHT THROUGH ENTRANCE.)

UP AND OVER THE OVERPASS BY LOS ANGELES AIRPORT HUNDREDS OF PLANE UNUSUALLY PARKED ALL OVER THE LANDING STRIP, NEVER HAVE I EVER SEEN THAT. I ROARD BACK TO ORANGE COUNTY 36 MILES. (I DID GIVING BLOOD MY BEST SHOT!).

I REALIZED THIS WAS A NATIONAL HORROR. FLAGS TO BE LOWERED TO HALF STAFF. AS I RETURNED HOME I SAW OLE GLORY AT THE GAS STATION NEXT TO ME AT FULL STAFF. 65 FOOT MAST. I ASKED IF I COULD LOWER IT TO HALF STAFF. DONE.

WATCHED MORE T.V. INFORMATION.

TWO DAYS LATER I HEARD THERE WERE NO MORE AMERICAN FLAGS TO BE FOUND. PEOPLE DESPERATELY WANTED TO FLY THEM AS WE ALL KNOW.

A FRIEND SAID, HEY JACK! DID YOU HEAR THAT? YOU HAVE A TRUCK FULL OF THEM! YER RIGHT ! I DO. OVER 100 BURIAL SIZE 5X9 FLAGS AN OTHER VARIOUS SIZES. ( I SEE THE AMERICAN FLAG FOR SALE AT THE SWAP MEET THROWN OVER SOME IDIOTS CAR DOOR LIKE A BEACH TOWEL I BUY IT! I'D RATHER BUY IT THAN SEE IT LIKE THAT.)AFTER 911 THOSE SAME TYPES OF IDOTS WERE SAYING $100.00 FOR THE DAY BEFORE $15.00 FLAG!!! UNREAL!!!

WE WENT ON A BUSY INTERSECTION DRAPED FLAGS AND IN LESS THAN ONE HOUR (ACTUALLY 5 MINUTES)WAS SWAMPED WITH CARS PULLING INTO THE PARKING LOT. (MY BIGGEST FEAR WAS, WHEN ARE THE COPS GONNA SHOW UP?) THEY DID! THEY BOUGHT! AND THEY THANKED ME. MANY VERY PATRIOTIC PEOPLE DROVE AWAY HAPPY. ONE HOUR, THEY WERE ALL GONE. I FELT GOOD. THESE FLAGS WERE GOING TO PROUDLY FLY HIGH.

I DID THE E BAY CHARITY AUCTIONS.

I DID ALL I COULD DO.

TODAY, WE REMEMBER. SEMPER FI. SALUTE!

God Bless American

I was at the hospital that morning, had been since late sunday night. As my mom was dying of cancer. My Dad and I sat their in horror, in total shock. I think we both said a silent prayer to God at that moment, for the families and the ones who lost their lives.
Thankful for my mother still alive, and gave a new meaning to us, to cherish each and every moment we have together. To live each day as if it was our last, and we do that still today.
My mother died on friday 9-14, and all tho it was a very sad day for us, I thought it was fitting, that she died on a day when the whols USA was observing a day of mourning for the 9-11 victims and their familes and for a whole country.Gave a little comfort.
I will never forget, as God will see that justice is done, and in the end, it will be a glory to him {God}.God is our strength, and with out him we are nothing, with him, ALL things are possiable to those who belive.

"Where was I?"

It doesn't matter.

Listening to talk radio today, I was sickened by the number of eager callers who wanted to brag on how speshul their child was for noticing that something happened 9/11/01 or how lucky it was they themselves didn't make that trip to NYC that day or whatever.

In other words, 9/11/01 was All About Them; a dramatic miniseries set in that starkly riveting "Ground Zero" (I hate that term) landscape, starring each and every one of Them.

That's missing the point. Big-time.

Too few people are angry. Too many people are fat, satisfied, comfortable, and wallowing in narcisstic reflection today...

...when they should fear for their lives and their way of life.

I was stumbling down the hallway 3/4 still asleep looking for the coffee pot when my wife told me a plane had hit the WTC. I was watching the news with her when the second one hit. Then the Pentagon. Then the crash in Pennsylvania. I never left the house that day and stayed riveted to the tv. That's one day I will never forget.

As a side note, 10 minutes ago 4 FA18 Hornets flew over my house en route back to Lemoore Naval Air Station (35 miles west of me) after a day of patrolling the skys. I said a silent God Bless and gave a hearty thumbs up to each one of them.

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

I was still asleep, my husband awakened me & told me a plane hit one of the WTC towers.
I thought it was a small private plane.

I was getting dressed when he came back & told me another plane hit the other tower.

I too spend the rest of the day in front of the TV, in disbelief.

I was on the computer at work in Western NY at the job I was transfered to do 2 years earlier. I work by myself.

My Wife & I both are from Northern NJ about 15 minutes from NYC. Within Sight of the towers.

I received a phone call after the first plane hit with my wife detailing what was happenning. While she was talking to me on the phone the other plane hit. We just stayed on the phone...

I was also on a few IRC channels trying to get whatever info I could.

Then came the reports of the collapse & my wife screaming in my ear that one of the towers was gone.

Then the other fell...
I still don't know why I did not go home but I was a basket case for quite some time.
I still have trouble dealing with it.

I spent most of the day trying to locate friends. Fortunatly for me after 4 days everyone was accounted for. Unfortunately My wife Knew personally & worked with 2 of the victems at a previous job. Also a friend of hers Brother in law had also perished.

On some other notes....

I found out some time later that a cousin of mine who is a flight attendent was scheduled to work United flight 93 that day. But he had swapped the day off with someone else.

My Mother is a nanny for a little girl named Ruthie. Ruthie's Parents both work in the WTC complex. Neither had gone into work that day because it was their daughters 1st day of school.

There are many more stories I keep hearing...

I myself have become an emotional basket case as a result. I am healing but it is taking alot longer than I want it to.

I am still sitting in front of the same computer that I was when it all happenned.
I still can not believe it all happenned.

I was still asleep and didn't know anything about it till I went to my car around 10:30.

Some guy was running up and down our street yelling something about planes falling out of the air like rain. Seriously, like he was one step away from "The sky is falling!"

I thought he was crazy, but it didn't take long after turning on my car radio to hear the truth.

Crazy things -do- happen!

I live and Work in NYC

I was taking the E train Subway which ends at the World trade center.

the train was moving extra slow that morning and like most New york was cursing under myh breath for the Slow train.

All of a sudden the Conductor announced due to a "Police Action" at the WTC the train will be stuck at 42nd st (The stop before mine)

I got off the train prety mad that I was late and had to walk extra. As I was walking to work I saw someone come out of a store yelling Holy S**T they hit it. I got out my walkman and heard the news (Because of Large buildings you cannot see the WTC from much of NY)
