This is ebay related.
I was dumb, I admit. I went ahead and listed, and its already got about 5 bids. The item has a quilted fabric liner. Well, it was wrapped for a year, and in with our Christmas stuff, which had xmas potpourri, scented candles, all wrapped too. But now, (I know I should have noticed this before listing!) it smells 'spicy xmas' like the candles and such it was packed with. Now this is not cigarette smells or pet smells, it like a 'Christmas' smell. But still, not good.
Is there any way to remove this smell WITHOUT washing. Can't wash it, it would most likely shrink. Its a small piece, about 12" x 6".

In order to protect it from too much heat, Put a wet bath towel in the dryer with it. This will help absorb the odor as well. When the towel is dry remove from dryer

Thanks you guys!
Will probably do both, wet towel in dryer, and outside to air, (its finally NOT raining today )

Product called "Dryel" available in most store. Essentially allows you to "dry clean" by using the product and your air fluff cycle from you dryer.

I am a heavy smoker and when I list something it immediately leaves my house and sits in the trunk of the car or the shed until the sale is over. This usually does wonders for the smell, no complaints on any fabrics yet...
the only smoke smell complaint I've had was for something that was never in my house.

Rarriffle,
Interesting way to take care of the smoke smell possibility. I wonder if it's the heat that builds up in the trunk/shed that eliminates the odors...
I've been plastic bagging stuff that might absorb odor from smoke or cooking or whatever and putting a few cotton balls moistened with Resolve fabric freshener in the bag with the item. I put the cotton balls into a sandwich bag so they don't get on it.
I've sold a fair amount of fabrics too and, like you, the only time I had a complaint it was for something that had never been in my home.

Just send along a complimentary set of nose plugs and tell them that everybody on the West Coast is wearing them.

Fabreeze does do a good job in the house but I think the fresh air beats anything for getting rid of smells.
I had a bidder email me and ask if the item was from a smoke free home? I explained to her that I was a smoker but also bought items for resale. As I explained, no honest seller that buys for resale can tell her it is from a smoke free home, be very wary of those promises.
She bid, won the auction and left glowing feedback for my honesty.
