Okay, I give. How do you guys use the automated WBN when you don't know the buyer's zip code, and hence the shipping cost?

I've used other auction companies that had this built into their system, but I don't think it is in AW.

With the other companies, the buyers were instructed to fill out the checkout form, complete with address, then wait for a follow-up invoice that had the total price. Then all they needed to do was check how they wanted to pay, and voila! It was done and sent back to me with no extra typing or communications.

But for the life of me, I can't figure out how this works in AW.

I know I can send an e-mail myself for the address, but then the buyers don't want to fill in the AW checkout form when they receive it. And why should they when they've already typed out their address?

Which means, I guess, I have to cut and paste the address into the checkout form and then send it with a total price and...SHEESH.

I'd hate to have to start charging fixed shipping because I don't like to overcharge (or undercharge for that matter). But if I can't use WBN, I might as well not use AW.

All ideas welcome. Thanks in advance!

~Sharon

Hi, I don't know your answer, but you should go to the AW area to post your question, men and women from AW read the posts all the time and will help you out real quick, I've do it a couple of times, they are always quick to help.

Just email aw and ask for the info in the help section.

It only works if you ship by Priority mail. You have the option under "sellers Preferences" to set the shipping by priority mail (Calc). You must know the packaged shipping weight. Enter the weight in the box. When the bidder enters their checkout information (with zip) the shipping is automatically calculated.

Or Set your preferences so that a AW EOS email message IS NOT AUTOMATICALLY sent upon completion of the auction.

When the auction closes & you are logged in to Ebay, the bidders zip code is displayed on the top section of the closed auction page.

From there you can figure the shipping fee to their zip.

I hardly ever use WBN since the postal rate increase. I shipping almost everything by FedEx Ground & can give the buyer the shipping instructions & cost by using the Zip Code from the EOA. All of my auctions end at 11:30 PM. So, the first thing in the morning I send an email to the buyer. I do use WBN for some small items that I ship vis Priority Mail where the actual postage charge is in the TOS.

sanmar you are to organized. I wish I could be. I just sit and list and then my auctions end at all times and that makes for unorganization.
