Isn't there some kind of limit to bid retracting. Someone else did it to me today who bid on the item last night, said the reason for retracting was "they couldn't contact the seller". Well nobody else had trouble getting email to me today. I know I am pouting and I don't want that kind of business anyway but I still have the question because I looked at his feedback and he has 12 retractions in the past 6 months. Isn't there a limit or something to keep this in check?

There apparently is not set number like final NPB's allowed.

Accountability
Your total number of bid retractions in the past six months is displayed in your feedback profile.

eBay will thoroughly investigate bid retractions. Abuse of this feature may result in the suspension of your account. Bids retracted within the last 24 hours of listing can be viewed as bid shielding, which is a serious violation of our policy.

12 is too many, I would still report them to ebay, maybe they will get a warning, or be suspended..

We received a bid retraction yesterday. I checked the history of the retractor and found 24 instances of bid retractions in the last 6 months. We immediately blocked the bidder and reported this user to eBay.

I've seen Buyers with WELL over 100 Retractions in the Past 6 Months...NOT NARU'ed so they keep Bidding and retracting. I can see a person that has Trouble with the Keyboard and BIDS quite a Bit getting 12 Retractions, don't really think that's a BIG deal...But when you see the Ones with well over 100, well that's another matter.

I thought there was limit?
Guess not.

I think that one or two over a 6 month period should be ok, but come on over 100!

They need some time off to think about it.

I guess it would vary depending on how active a bidder is ~
I have reported bidders with waaay less than 100 who became naru for it.
They each had maybe 20 retractions, lower FB bidders, bidding up my auctions then cancelling the bid as an oops.

I have never been able to figure out how a bid can be an OOPs. You can't just bid on an item & walk away. It takes some thought on what you are doing. I agree that 1 or 2 in 6 months would not be a bad thing.; But a 100? This person is just playoing games at the sellers expense & should be NARUed.

Yes, I blocked him first thing. Believe it or not this was the most bid retractions I had ever seen anybody have. I'm still learning as I go!

FWIW, I received at least a dozen 'Ask Seller Question' emails this morning for auctions that closed two and three days ago.

I get a lot of buyers using the "Ask Seller A Questions" after the auction because they can't figure out how to email a seller with regular correspondence and and not actual questions about the auction. These are not about questions about the auctions but them giving me their postal address for a shipping label or to tell me that payment has been sent type of things. I have my email address in every auction description and always email the buyers with three hours of the auction closing. Is ebay that confusing to many bidders that they have to use the "Ask Seller A Question" function for normal correspondence?

These were all actual questions about the auctions and all were sent before the auctions closed.

I don't like Spiders and Snakes goes the old Jim Stafford Song.

What about the guy from Oregon that kissed his pet rattlesnake and the snake bit his lip. doomsday for the snake the guy was in serious condition in the hospital.

Well back to the discussion. People have to remember that there are a number of buyers that never leave their home and depend on eBay for their personal items and clothing so I am sure they are not going to surf through all the auctions for that one low price.

Don't they call that auction interference when someone emails you and your potential buyers about auctions. Ebay frowns on that. I hope it is so long for that buyer..

There is a limit and I wish I could find the paragraph in which it states it, but nothing will happen if it is not reported to ebay. They have already said they will not investigate anything unless it is reported and this is included. We had the same kind of thread about 6 months ago and reported it. Three days later, that guy was NARU. So, block the guy and report him/her. Do the rest of us sellers a favor by getting this guy off ebay.

There may have been a set number of allowable bid retractions in the past but no more. It wouldn't make any sense to have a set numbers as some bidders may make 500 bids or more in 6 months and some may only make one bid in 6 months.

9 bid retractions in the past month, reported four days ago, bidder NARU this morning!
teeheeheeheehee!
Sounds like eBay thoroughly investigated this poor excuse for an eBayer & zapped them!

one less retaliatory neg for me!!!!
