I've just switched from USPS to UPS online shipping. What I am wondering is...do any of you charge a handling fee to cover the daily pick-up service fee that is charged weekly?
What I've been doing is this: Anything 2#'s and less, I charge actually daily pick-up rate to my customer. Anything over 2#'s I charge the rate for "Customer Counter" (while I only pay the daily pick-up rate) so that I have an extra dollar or so to cover that weekly fee I am charged.
I would love to establish a flat rate shipping so I don't get the constant email questions about how much the cost is to ship to their homes.
UPS sure takes loads more time figuring out the cost and all...but it beats hauling 50 packages to the post office!

We have been using a flat rate charge for shipping for two years. The pickup charges can be worked into the flat rate total.
We offer for a large 3 lb package $12. USA and Canada. Europe $23.
For USPS we offer $15.
For West Coast only $9.
All of these include insurance. The cost of the box, handling and the pick up charge is covered and the customers like the ease of processing the orders. Charges are posted in our auctions and we add $1. for additional items in the same box.
The USPS has become a waste of valuable time and money as far as I'm concerned

I see no reason why you shouldn't include this charge in your shipping quote, you are paying for it, so why not? USPS picks up too, but the $100 automatic insurance is nice with UPS. If I did not ship so much out via media mail, I might consider, but UPS can't compete with that rate.
