Ok, I don't kow if I linked this right, so let me know if I goofed. It seems to be a double candy dish with a handle. It's pink with blue spots (flecks). Theres no marks on the underside. Have any of you seen anything like this? I've searched everything I can think of on eBay and came up blank.
Thanks in advance!

I shrunk the images so they wouldn't drive everyone nuts with scrolling back & forth.
They look like a candy dish to me.

I agree with you! It was in a storage locker from my grandmother that we recently emptied out.
I'm betting that whatever the artist of this piece was on, it was good!

back in the late 70's, when I was really into ceramics, this type of glaze was very hot...the drip effect was done with an underglaze then the top glaze was like little rocks that would melt and drip down the piece when fired...
does this have a name or initials on the bottom?? looks like a handmade piece from then.

No there's nothing that I can see on the bottom. If you want to see a photo, here's the link (I didn't want to crowd the page with too many photos).

Thanks tooltimes for shrinking the photos!

No problem. These are small files now. I remember seeing this style of pottery in the 70's too.

It was made by Gertrude Schmitt, Thursday afternoon ceramics class.
Despite the high cost of living, it remains popular

Was that the class taught by Ms. Kowalski? LOL!
I had a feeling this was nothing, but wanted to be sure before tossing it into the garage sale pile.

I like it, so does my wife. We'll pay $5 plus shipping to take it off your hands...

I disagree. I don't think it is from the 70's. It looks older than that, like the late 50's to early 60's.

I agree with Palom. Colors aren't right for the 70's more like early 60's. It looks like California pottery but their pieces are usually marked. You know if you put it in your garage sale some seller from eBay will come along and buy it and make a mint on it. Try listing it and see what happens you never know in this kooky world.

I too agree that it's earlier than the 70s. Probably the 50s.

YOu'll probably get a bidding war on it! It's like a bulldog- so ugly it's cute.

I like max40's post:

That's probably the answer.

And if it was made by Gertrude Schmitt, it was not her first project. The first one was always an ashtray.

It's a ceramic class piece for sure, done in a raspberry crystal glaze. Crystal glazes are still being made & can be bought in any ceramic shop.
Several companies make them, but the only one I can think of rght now is Duncan.

It reminds me of ashtrays that you would see on those boomerang coffee tables from the 50's (you know, the bone-white veneer tables?).
