i just finished reading the threads re: thousands positive; then one negative, etc. i applaude these sellers for doing things right...but they never crossing swords[thankfully], or for that matter, the paths of my four bidders - i have one neg. because his mother was practising with his password, another net because i didnt take american express, and another because they forgot to return the mdse. that i gave them permission 2 months earlier... the first three didnt bother me. the fourth did: in my auction, i described a 75 year old teapot as glazed, with a crack and a +1 inch chip[defects were even imaged in auction] ....bidder neg'd me for selling him a "useless discolored teapot" and accused me, per the feedback, of misrepresentation. i havent returned the "courtesy" just yet. what i would like to ask this forum is for some input and enlightnment...ebay safe harbor rules state that after i pay the $20 for mediation, the negative can be removed only if the bidder agrees to do so, or if the bidder doesnt not reply to the mediator. i was at this point of filing the complaint when i read the final paragraph stating these two. so, why do people spend the $20???? according to what i read, the chances of removal depend entirely on that person retracting what they have said; i.e., admitting they wrong...please take moment and kindly post any input, especially, if there is something here that i am missing...
best of best for 2003...

Just respond saying all flaws stated in tos. Then return the favor to your bidder. As far as paying $20.00 to remove the neg, why bother?
The last thing you want to do is waste more time or money on this bidder. Start the new year by moving on and not let some dimwit ruin your day.
Make sure you put this "winner" on your email and auction block.

Trai is right. Be calm and factual. Don't waste your money. Anyone who sells runs across an idiot like this. I got my neg EXACTLY the same way. THe first I knew that he wasn't happy was in the neg. And the flaw had it's own picture, too.

Take a breath, respond to his neg, then neg him and move on.

Did your buyer communicate with you before giving you the negative? Perhaps they misunderstood your description as you state that the teapot was "glazed" when perhaps you meant "crazed".

Glaze is the coating put on the teapot when it is fired and it fixes the color and gives the item a shiny look.

Crazing is actually the small cracks in the glaze and also the china which sometimes happens when the item is fired or else just from use and age.

These two words are frequently misused by sellers and perhaps your buyer glazed over the comments and didn't realize it was crazing?

Unless the crazing was really faint, it should have been apparent in the picture. Especally if you took one of the defect fairly close up. The word "glazing" was wrong but in your defense, if the buyer knew anything at all about porcelain or pottery they should have picked up on the craze-glaze error and asked. It almost sounds like they wanted to see it first and the decide how bad it was. It's a win-win for them and a nightmare for you. If he didn't ask for his $ back, just learn from it and move on. I'd still neg him because he didn't have the courtesy to try and work it out.

I just took a look at your feedback and for someone with only a 367 Feedback, 4 megs is a lot. I understand they are unavoidable at times and very irritating (My 2 Neutrals really bug me.)

I have made mistakes in my auctions (shipped 2-3 weeks late) but have been humble and responsive to emails to get it corrected. Your responses to the Negs are too emotional. Make them simple and truthful. "Offered refund & discount to no avail."

When I check someones Feedback, the Negs don't bother me much if the leaver of the Neg is beligerant sounding and the seller is calm and factual.

Since, like me, you left your Feedback before you received the buyers, your only recourse is to leave a Responce. Make it simple. "Showed faults with specific pictures, Item is as described in Auction"

I might even leave the pictures up for a while. That way others can look and see how factual your description was.
