Local pick up would really cut down on you buyers. I would consider using UPS and offering it to US bidders only. Shipping would be a little high but it shouldn't hurt your bid activity to much.

You can ship a small tv by freight lines ,greyhound, ups etc. Is this just a tv or a cabinet set?
You can also have them pick up, however would that bother you for someone to come to your home? You could arrange to meet them somewhere else for this.
The only thing that I can see that might be a problem is that the buyer may want to see how well the tv runs before payment, so you will need to have power and or cable etc.
I would try to sell this set on the local market[I take it this is an older tv?]
Try an ad in your local paper or buy and sell.

I've done two big auctions "For customer pick-up ONLY."
Had no problem with either. One drove 50 miles to get here, the other came over a thousand miles to pick it up. Both items were bulky, odd-shaped things that would have required several pallets on a freight truck to ship professionally. These guys brought a pick up truck, stacked them in and were quite happy.
Some things are just unreasonable to pack up and ship.
Then there's the option of your local paper. In my area we have two very large "classifieds" papers aside from the local newspapers.

I sell alot of very large pieces of furniture
on consignment. 95% of my sales are from local bidders who will pick the items up. I ALWAYS INSIST upon being paid for the item before the item is picked up. I give all payments time to clear before they can pick their item up. Also, prepare a detailed, dated receipt which the customer must sign at the time of pick up. On a few occasions, we have delivered the items for a fair delivery fee (average $100.00 for a single large piece depending on distance and difficulty). I have to admit I would not want people coming into my home though. We store our consigned items in a large storage facility, so they are easily picked up there. Can you move the items out of the house...do you have a garage or out building on your property? Even a basement?
I would move everything I planned to list into one area away from my main living area and start to sell from there.

It was a bunch of wire pegboard racks. We'd moved to a different store and couldn't use them where we now are. They had to go.
The other guy was just setting up a store and needed them. They would have cost him over $1000 new, and he got mine for under $400. (I got them originally for free, but That's just between you and me)
The savings was worth the trip for him, and beat throwing out the racks for me.
This was pretty much my First sale on eBay. After that, I was hooked!

its about 4 years old. it is VERY heavy and dont have any idea how i would even go about weighing it if i did decide to ship.

Weighing it would be easy. If you want to save the hassle just try a local free classified add first and go from there. I wouldn't think anyone would drive very far for a four year old 27" tv. but who knows
