What kind of idiots do they have working at Ebay? I had an auction for a pocket knife. Just your basic single blade folding knife. They ended my auction because it was a switchblade! I bet I've sold at least of a dozen of them on Ebay this past year. What gets me is there was a seller who IS selling switchblades on Ebay and he goes merrily along his happy way. I sent a note to [email protected] along with a copy of the ended notice to inform them that is wasn't a switchblade. I hope they remove the black mark from my record.

Just a guess. It was probably a competing seller that turned you in. Anyone else selling knives similar to yours?

Yes and that thought did cross my mind but there's only three of us that regularly offer them and there seems to be enough sales to go around. Maybe one of them has become a little greedy. Also, I have a perfect feedback rating (no negs, no neutrals, 310 unique positives; tomservo92 isn't my ebay name BTW) so maybe a little jealously as well.

Switch Blade knives are legal to sell on eBay as long as the blade is under 2" I believe. There are a number of other styles of knives that are illegal to sell. One that I had shut down was a butterfly style knife but there are others too.

That's correct and the rules say you must state the blade length (which I didn't since the knife wasn't a switchblade). I had an auction for a butterfly knife ended early last year as well. I ended up selling them on BladeAuction.com since they have no restrictions on butterflies or switchblades.

Happened to me too late last year.
Had a vintage fur jacket that is called Seal but is not from a seal.
Ebay ended my auction while other sellers were allowed to keep theirs on.
I emailed Ebay to tell them it wasn't really from a seal but they said I could not sell it on there ! Go figure

Surprise! Surprise! Ebay admitted they were wrong. Here's the response I got back when I let them know the knife wasn't a switchblade:

Thank you for contacting us with your concerns surrounding this listing.

I have reviewed your auction that was ended and have determined that it
was ended in error. Therefore I have reinstated the auction where it
now appears on the site as an ended auction. Please feel free to relist
this item at anytime. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have
caused you.

Thank you for your patience and understanding and for being part of the
eBay community.
