Hi
I have not been selling regularly, and now am just getting some things back onto ebay. I didn't do Christmas, my loss I am guessing, but with a move coming up, suddenly I am just not wanting to keep all the crap I have been hanging on to...but I am rambling!
I sold a pair of boots, and since I wasn't sure about my bathroom scale, I stopped into the PO and had them weigh it. I was to email the client and let them know the cost.
The clerk, they are a really nice PO, stamped it, insured it and DC'd it and even slapped some tape on it. I was going to take the package home and wait until I got paid by the customer...THEN mail it.
The clerk nearly lost it when I said thanks and went to take the package.
I said well, okay, I guess there was some miscommunication and okay, here is my check, sent it out.
I emailed the customer the rate, and am hoping I do get paid, I have a good feeling about it...but...can you pay for everything then come back a couple days later, have them re-weigh it and then mail it? Or do you have to wait for postage to be applied?

Sounds silly, and I am sure, but bear with me!
Thanks
Japerton
ps got more for the boots than I paid for on ebay, if she pays...yay!

PS Are people bidding? I sold one item off ebay after 4 tries, this item sold after two.

My PO has a "do-it-yourself" scale in the lobby. There's no need to have a clerk do it. To answer your question: I have taken packages in to have them weighed but not mailed. You just have to tell the clerk up front that's what you want.

I have brought items for them to weigh and then taken them home. You know you can use a digital bathroom scale or even a regular one at that. I bought a scale at a garage sale and it is a baby one. Any scale that gives you ounces and pounds will work.

Any scale that will give fairly accurate readings will work. Once you reache 13 oz. Ounces don't really mean much. If you ship Priority Mail, if it 1 oz over 1 lb. then it is 2 lbs. & so on. You can easily check a scale for accuracy. Just look in the kitchen for something that has not been opened, i.e. 5# of sugar etc, even a package of meat will do. I bought my scale at a garage sale for $6.00 & it weighs up to 25#

Wasn't the problem that the PO stamped and insured it? Their postage stickers are dated and only good for that date. Also, once they insure a package it is their responsibility. If they give it back to you they cannot be held responsible for it. You could just take it home and file an insurance claim.

If you had put regular stamps on the package and not insured it there would be no problem.
