No, only if you want to, just send the link to your buyer and they do the "work". Wait till you get the second notice from bidpay to ship, or you can wait till you get the money order in your hot little hands.

Just as a thought here, by itself this does not mean that its a scam. Lot of people have family all over the globe, but best to protect oneself.

Velma: to be serious (Hey! If you're Serious, where's Roebuck?), you should insist he use BidPay for a very good reason -- CYA!

If he rquests shipping to BaliHai, but lives in KangaVille, just inform BidPau & they will handle it from there!

SWEET!

Totally ignorant about bidpay but just went to their website. The buyer can pay for his auction and they send me a money order? Is that the way this works? I need a quick lesson here! You guys are terrific!

YES!

Actually, BP will send you TWO email -- 1 telling you the MO is being processed & the 2nd tells you that the MO has been mailed to you.

I don't wait for the mail -- once I get that 2nd BP email, I ship right out!

Had 3 this week already!

Registration is OPTIONAL -- but if you DO register, you will be insured that your mailing address is correct & you can examine your CONTROL PANEL of ALL you current & past BP MOs -- VERY NICE!

That's pretty much the way it works. The only problem is that the buyer is charged to use Bidpay, which makes some int'l bidders mad. But in this case, I think you're justified.

bidpay is good for seller-buyer cannot file chargeback as what he really did was buying a western union money order.
if it were a fraudulent card, bidpay eats the loss as the seller got his money order.

buyer is charged to use Bidpay

So what? Its fairly cheap, so this will not break them. If they charged the seller, we would have to pass that cost on anyway. Rread... no free lunch!

I accepted my first bidpay payment this week from a buyer in England. It really was quite easy, I have not received payment yet, but I know it will arrive. I've shipped to unconfirmed addresses before, but I would not ship to a different country (esp. Indonesia) unless they paid me in a method that could not be a chargeback, like Bidpay, US Money Order, or Cash.

Bidpay is the only online payment option I offer. I have had great results with them. The first email you get will be a notice that they have applied to purchase a money order. The second notice will be to let you know the application has been approved and a money order is on the way. What transpires between those two notices is an investigation by Bidpay to determine the validity of the credit card and the buyer. Once they send the approval notice, they are accepting the liability for any fraud their investigation did not turn up. The last paprgraph of the approval email gives the shipping address along with a notice to notify them immediately if the customer requests shipment to any other address than the one shown. They are especially concerned about shipments to Indonesia, and up until recently mentioned this country by name in their approval notices.

sparkz ... do you remember what they said about shipments to Indonesia?

Dang it all ... I hardly ever do international selling. I can't remember the last time I did. In spite of THAT fact, I guess I am remembering why I stopped!

They specified that because of the amount of fraudulant credit card activity in Indonesia, that they wanted to be notified IMMEDIATELY if the customer requested shipment to that country. They quit singleing out Indonesia recently and now they want to be notified in all instances where the shipping address is different than what is shown in the approval notice.

Bidpay is awesome....I had a buyer use it last month for a sell...Got the money order in like 2 days ...faster than any buyer would send it. I mailed a Bali Bodyshaper to Indonesia about 4 months ago with no problems the lady even told what size mailer she wanted mailed in to get the cheapest price on shipping....it was cheaper to mail to Indonesia(3.45) than it would have been to mail it in the United States(3.85)that was just weird.

Just an update ... have been keeping track of this buyer and guess what ... he has been suspended. He registered the day before my auction ended and has already been suspended.

Don't know if it is proper to name a name but what the heck at this point. He has probably moved on to a 23nd or 3rd id by now ...

Looked at his four auctions. Bought over $800 worth of stuff and paypal reversed the transactions on two of them. What a scumbag.

LuckyGifts ... I kept insisting I wouldn't ship to an uncomfirmed address with Paypal. Told him could use Bidpay instead and then I would ship it to his "brother" in a different continent. Didn't hear from him and sent another email and he said I had confused him and he bought a phone from another seller. Funny, none of the auctions linked back to a phone.

Had I not jumped over here to Auctionwatch and received great advice, as always, I would have been stung by this jerk as well.

I think there is an increase in indonesian fraud again. I just heard from a seller with 250+ feedback, that he was approached by a guy to end his cell phone auction early and offered to pay $600 for it. Of course this seller did do that. The buyer used Paypal and the seller shipped the cell phone the next day. Guess where he shipped it? Indonesia!!! Of course, the Indonesian address was unverified. I explained in detail what could have been done differently, like NOT ending the auction early and never use paypal for international bidders etc.

There are some countries that I won't deal with, and Indonesia is one of them. Well, if they send me cash, I will send them a package. They would need to pay for registered mail though.
