you can only ship first class for items less than 14 ounces. It all depends. If it's over 4 pounds UPS is usually cheaper than USPS priority

This can not get a simple answer. I've found that for smaller packages, USPS tends to be cheaper. There comes a certain point where UPS does get cheaper, probably around 4 pounds or so. It also depends what you are shipping, UPS can't compete on media mail items like books and movies.

If you like damaged goods & a week and a half deliverys.
UPS is the way to go!
And don't kid yourself they're not cheap!

At 4 lbs. the rate for FedEx Ground , including $1.15 home delivery charge is $6.89 for Zone 8. USPS is $10.35 plus insurance. FedEx automatically insures up to $100.00. No contest as to is the most economical. I have an account with FedEx & use them most of the time. OK, so the Prority Mail boxes are free. I buy the same size box for 39 cents in bundles of 25. I charge $1.00 for packing whether it goes Priority or FedEx. Under 3lbs. USPS is slightly cheaper, but you have add for insurance, so they are about the same.
