Some of you might remember the thread I put up titled "Red Flag Alert w/2 buyers same address" http://www.vendio.com/mesg/post.html?num=2

problem is with Buyer #2...."Wanted to make sure he had the "insurance" amount correct" ?? feedback of 69 signed up 3-29-00, no negs.

He bought a "Flexable" plastic sign, 4" x 24" long. he paid with a postal money order, I shiped the sign ASAP to him.
I package each sign with cardbaord attached to the back of the sign, to give extra support while being shiped.

Got this email from him last night,,,,Unfortunatly, it arrived bent out of shape near the logo and also had a scratch in the same area. I am sure it is the post office's fault. If you want I can send you a picture of it, so you can see what I'm talking about. Another thing that just may be minor to me is that it was packaged with tape holding the board in place, I was wondering if it will leave a flaw when removed or should it be ok? Please get back to me

I have email him to send some pictures, what would you do, any advice, let me know. Thank to all.

Well.....How can a flexible sign be bent? Look at his pictures and see if you can see the problem. Sounds a little fishy to me.
Good Luck

If you shipped it flat with just a piece of even heavy cardboard taped to one side, I would not be at all suprised if it was damaged. Freight employees, whether USPS, UPS or others are not going to see to it that your package remains flat. They will likley be dumping numerous thousands of packages in bins. They simply do not have time to lovingly protect your merchandise.

Suppose there are already a number of boxes jumbled up in a large shiiping bin, your sign gets tossed in, then a 20 lb package gets tossed on top of your sign? Damage is likely. Just because it hasn't happened before doesn't mean it won't.

I would have rolled up a flexible sign inside a large round tube or the triangular priority tube.

If you are old enough, you may have seen the American Tourister commercials back in the 60's or 70's. They would give a sealed suitcase to a gorilla in the zoo and film how tough he treated it. It got severely banged, mashed and tossed about. The point was that if it stood up to that, it could survive whatever any baggage handler could do to it.

Take the same viewpoint with your packages. How much abuse will each take and survive?

So look at the pictures he sends and see what you think. I would tend to believe him.

By the way, any time I send email to a seller about a damaged item I have received(when I am the buyer), I always unclude good digital photos of the problem in the FIRST email concerning the problem.

I have never had a seller think I was telling a lie yet. One thing that tells you he is likley honest is his feedback number.
No other sellers have said he's tried to rip them off.
