I'm currently a subscriber to Stamps.com and am pretty happy with it. I've just learned of Endicia recently, so I don't know much about it. Does anyone know which is better? What is cheaper in the long run? What is easier to use?
Thanks,
Jaimie

All I know is about Endicia, and I LOVE IT.

I'm sure someone will come along and talk about stamps.com, I don't know anything about it.

But I do know, I can print out postage on my printer, and just drop it on the counter at my PO, and not stand in lines.... its such a great feeling!

I've used BOTH, & there is NO comparison...ENDICIA.COM rules!

The CS is very helpful! The PREZ (Harry) comes to these boards now & then to offer great info & tips!

I love the CS! I recently bought a new PC & I was too lazy to try & re-figure out my settings, so I just called up DAZZLE DELIGHTS & they walked me thru it

The price is a very low & reasonable monthly charge (NO % baloney like at Stomps.com) of $9.95 for BASIC or $15.95 for the PREMIUM!

The PREMIUM includes the kewl nifty fantastic STEALTH INDICIA function that allows you to print the postage without disclosing the amout paid -- KEWL!!!!

DAZZLE is the software used with ENDICIA, & it is a very powerful suite of applications that ENDICIA throws in for ya! Since it is designed to work with just about any printer on the face of da earth, it does take a little bit of fooling around to set-up the first time!

When setting-up, keep in mind the TEST PRINT function! Use this to test yer settings, & you should never waste postage during set-up

Remember that ENDICIA'S CS is second to none & extremely kind & helpful! If ya get stuck...DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL THEM!

Most important of all: Ralphie is going to boot camp this summer! Help support his educational future by joining ENDICIA here:

I think I was Stamps.com 2nd customer on earth. I switched to Endicia and although everyone was very helpful, going through the set up and Test Print phase was too much trouble for me. Just when I thought I got it right, bam it printed wrong, or would not let me edit an address, etc. So I switched back to Stamps.com and never left. I later learned my firewall was part of my problem with Endicia. I think you use what you are comfortable with.

Important to compare the TOTAL monthly cost! ENDICIA is $9.99 (or $14.99)/month whether ya print $1 postage or $10,000 postage!!

YES, DAZZLE does take a little bit-o tinkering to get things set the first time! That's why it's soooo great that ENDICIA'S CS is soooo wunderfuuul!

I have used both. I signed up and used stamps.com premium service and got my free scale. Used it for about 6 months and loved it except at the time I could not use it for media, or international mail. I switched to Endicia becuase of those reasons. Then Endicia came out with their stealth mode. I love this feature and will pay the $5.00 a month for it. It saves about 5 complaints a month.

Endicia is a bit more difficult to configure, but just plan on taking an hour or so to get it set up.

2 things more that are true with both Stamps.com and Endicia. Use a laser printer or Thermal. Items printed with an inkjet can run if they get wet. Laser and Thermal prevents this problem. The other is to turn on the "Keep printed Documents" in your Printer Properties. If your printer jams during a print, or you accidently print it on the wrong paper you can then go back and reprint your mistake. This will save you a lot of money. And a lot of time sending back misprinted stamps. I used to have to send mistaken postage every couple of weeks. I have now only done it once in the last year.

I prefer stamps - not stamps.com or endicia. While I've never used Endicia, I have used stamps.com and Pitney Bowes. In the end, plain old stamps (along with USPS Shipping Assistant) work well for me...I can even buy stamps below face value as well to save even more money.

I have to admit stealth mode seems like an interesting idea. It could end the shipping charges debate that has been going on here since forever. Using lots of stamps helps as well because I believe that most people out there can't add. Put a lot of stamps on a package, and they figure they got a discount on shipping lol

Good one, ahc3...lots of truth there too!

I dunno...at the USPS site you can printout Priority Mail labels with the delivery conformation numbers on them and, if you so desire, you can print the exact postage on the label and charge it to your credit card.

Pretty much everything I mail is by Priority Mail so I don't see much need to pay a premium to another company for something I can do at no extra charge at the USPS site.

neatstuffusa,

Why don't you go try the free trial at endicia and see if you still say that in a month.
That's what I used to think also but figured I had nothing to lose with the free trial. I will never go back to using the USPS website.

Same here. My time is more valuable data entering all those addresses on a web site. I do this part time in the evenings. And if I can prepare, pack, and ship 50 items in under one hour (packages under 1 pound) - Endicia has thought a lot about interface and automating many parts of their system.

If you look at what they've done with the "refund" process, you'll know what I mean.

My only two complaints are that:
1) They need the clipboard reader to read in Paypal addresses correctly because the zipcode is on a separate line
2) The "weigh" button has a bug when you print labels - haven't been able to use my stamps.com scale to the serial port interface for many months now

But other than those two issues, I love Endicia. If you sign up, remember to use me as a referrer. 501521

I don't know about the scale part since I don't have one with a computer interface but the paypal addresses work just fine for me. It may be your email program causing it to not work.

I'm using Outlook 2000. Its possible, but I doubt it. I've told them about it numerous times but it hasn't really been addressed. I mean, I bet you most of the addresses they process come from Paypal, so why not address it right away? Waiting for the next release that could be months from now...

Are you copying the USA line with the rest of the address? That is the only way I can get it to not work. I even tried putting the zipcode to the next line manually and it still fixed it. I use mozilla for email but forewarded a paypal email to the outlook express setup on this computer and it worked from there also.
Do you have the box checked to always monitor clipboard? (it is located under file-preferences-clipboard)

I will stick with Endicia through thick and thin. Especially now that I use AuctionSage for post-auction management. I click one button to "Send Address to Dazzle" and the address and all info, including whether the package is to be insured or not, goes instantly to Dazzle. So simple and FAST. I know AuctionSage also works with Shipping Assistant, but I haven't tried it. Time is money, too, and the combination of Endicia and AuctionSage saves me tons of time.

Yes, I'm only copying four lines:
1) name
2) address
3) city, state
4) zip

I have "monitor clipboard for addresses" selected.

what happens is that the result in Dazzle looks like:

1) name
2) city, state
3) address
3) city, state
4) city, state zip

I can't get mine to do that. It works perfect everytime. Have you tried copying just the three lines? I tried it that way also and it finds the zipcode by itself.

Copying just the three lines work. I called Paypal today and gave them my feedback. Hopefully they'll implement a change soon... I do give them a respectable amount of business each year.
