For those of you that use pop-up stopper programs I was wondering if these programs stop only unwanted pop-ups or all of them?

I am working on my new site and was planning to use "pop-ups" for large photos and detailed descriptions. Basically, each item would have a basic description title with a text "more info" link. this link would open a small pop-up window with a more detailed description and photo. After spending last night building 100 of the pop-up pages I am now wondering if I have wasted my time and need to figure out a new configuration or if the pages will still work since they are not entrance or exit pop-ups but link enacted one.

Since I updated my Norton firewall and anti-virus last month I haven't seen ANY pop ups or even banner ads. It is really great! Before my update however pop ups were bad. I avoid going to sites that have pop ups as they are only nuisance and I NEVER read them or click on them. I love that I don't have to deal with them anymore.

Most people hate them but I don't know if they ever direct any traffic to the site.

OK - that's not really what I was referring to...

Here is a quickie page I put together to how what I mean....

(sorry Tom - is using that considered gimic infringement?)

When you click on the MORE INFO links do you get a small new window?

Sorry about the misunderstanding.

I really like what you have done! I like not having to leave the page to see the item. I don't know why leaving the page is a pain but it is. Are those your cats or just some photos off something else? Looks like you did a lot of work.

Nice sight, I don't think those count as true "pop ups" because the person has to initiate the action...

Cute cats BTW

Thanks : )

Those are my boys. As we "speak" they are chasing each other around and from the thunk I just heard, one has hit the wall (furry paws and hardwood floors make for some amusing moments around here).

Thanks for checking that out. That was just a quickie page to test the workability of the concept I have for my actual site. Thanks to GoLive it only took me about 10 minutes to do. The actual site is probably going to take another month or two to get ready and will have well over 1000 items so I needed to make it easily navigatable. I agree with you Paws - I hate having to go back and forth between lots of pages. I also hate lots of scrolling or long load times so half page "pop-up" item descriptions and photos seemed to be the best way to handle it. They will also enable me to eventually add an in-site search engine.

I have a pop up blocker some of your items generated an error and some didn't. In order to see items that "pop-up" I have to hold down control and click on the link. No biggie for me. I'd rather do that one extra step than have pop-ups all over the place. The worst site for it is About.com. Every page you go to lands you another pop-up ad.

I use Pop Up Stopper and it let me click on all of your links and they opened right up.

I do have to turn it off when I am doing some things like online banking though.

Like others I love this little program. I hate popups and never ever click on them and I don't read banner ads either.

AdSubtract when active will not let me open your pop-ups. But it won't let me open the invoice on the Post Sale page either. To view your items I have to turn it off. Cute cats!!!

The free pop-up blockers will not let your windows open unless the potential buyer turns off the blocker or uses the Ctrl key when clicking the link. In many cases, the person might forget the blocker is on and move on thinking there is something wrong with your site. I would make it known to anyone going to your site that if they want to view your items, that they should turn off the pop-up blocker software. I had this same problem with e-bays new help system and the FVF sections until I started going through the site map.

Can someone post the address of a free pop ad blocker.
I really need to use one, they are driving me crazy.

I like the popup stopper by http://www.panicware.com It stops 'em all, plus if you WANT to see a popup, you can hold CTRL and hit the link again, and the popup will come up.
