I noticed in one of the threads last week that you bought a Singer featherweight. Was it in a case that had been papered with contact paper? If so I was the one who put it on the auction.

Hi Sanmar,

Why, yes, it was. What a small world!

Of course I do have to fix that case...

How did you do at the auction?

I had about 8 things on that wouldn't sell on ebay. Grossed $440.00, of course the Singer was half of it. The otheres were all small items.

Hi Sanmar,

I'm afraid to ask...what were the other things? Maybe I bought them too...

Just curious. You said you "grossed" $440. Do they charge a premium to sell there as well as buy?

Hey! What auction are you two talking about? I'd like to get rid of some stuff that I haven't been able to sell on Ebay. Can you share the info?

Hi Paloma,

The auction is in Santa Margarita, CA.

http://www.smab.com/

I've never sold anything there, just bought a BUNCH of great furniture and some other stuff at good prices.

If you Google auctions and your location you'll probably come with something.

Thanks Lucy! Maybe I'll make it down during the summer. I love the central coast. That is where I'd love to be living. I am on the SF peninsula. I think you are about a 3 hour drive from me.

Lucy, Yes, They charge a commission, it varies from 20 to 30 % of the selling price. The rest of the things were smalls. I had 4 Hummels, a Nippon Tea Setm A Satsuma Tea Set, a Heisey creamer & Sugar & a Griswald scone set that dated to early 1900's. I don't very often take things to auction, but when I can't sell them on eBay then I want to turn over my inventory & get some new things.
