Can anyone give me any information re: maker/approximate date of this large pressed glass decorative bowl? It belonged to the grandmother of a friend of mine and she knows nothing about it. I could find no marks on it anywhere. It measures about 10 inches long, 7 1/2 inches wide and stands about 5 1/2 inches high. It's trimmed in gold and has a very irregular/wavy rim. On each side, there's a gold flower; the feet are also gold. There is a 3-dimensional design in the glass...leaves and scroll-type work. The glass is a sort of very pale greenish/cream...the photo is pretty accurate as to color. Any assistance is greatly appreciated...Thanks for being patient as pictures come up.

Hi Blueyes,

Take a look at this listing. Could this be the same piece but yours is in better shape?

Here's another one...

Second listing calls it a banana boat, which is wrong. The bowl appears to be a console bowl. Definitely custard glass, I don't know the pattern or maker. Northwood seems to be the popular choice.

There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

It's a Northwood Custard glass console or master berry (no real difference) in the Louis XV pattern. It was made around the first decade of the 1900's. Check it under black light. It should glow wildly. I've sold several pieces this year. They do well. Especially when the gilding is in such good shape.

Hi Blueyes,

It's a beautiful bowl!

Let us know when you list it - will be fun to see how high it goes.

Glad we could help.

Thanks, ohmslucy...and others. The bowl is even prettier "in person"...but I'll probably wait until the fall to list. I have a friend in California who is liquidating her grandmother's and mother's estates...she shipped me 26 boxes of great items to sell! I've opened about half the boxes so far...I save them to open when I want to "treat" myself and have been delighted with the treasures she's sent! Can hardly wait to see what's in the other boxes! Plan to spend some time in the library to do research...and no doubt will be posting on this board to find out about some of the other items too! There's absolutely NO WAY I can be an "expert" on the wide variety of "treasures" she's sent...and I know I can always depend on the fabulous and knowledgeable folks here when I'm stumped.

Boy, I wish I had a friend like that!

Good luck with your treasures.

Yes...it's sort of like "Christmas in June"...the only bad thing is that I don't get to keep any of it! Half the fun, though, is opening the packages so I'm still having a GREAT time! Opened some more this afternoon (needed a treat after throwing away hundreds of wrong-sized boxes)...had numerous WAC (WWII) uniform items...including a pair of stockings!

Revived this glass thread hoping the experts could ID this punch cup.

There are no marks on it anywhere. Very definitely elegant glass, though; I was thinking Cambridge or Fostoria but have had no luck identifying it.

Thanks for any help.
