I've been lurking here for about 3-4 months and have been very impressed with the helpfulness most everyone exudes here. There just isn't a more helpful bunch of people - and I've been looking at a number of auction boards.

So - just had to do it, sign up for Vendio, then let you know you are the reason for joining - definitely.

I look forward to becoming a contributing member of this great community.

Kind regards,

Wayne

Welcome, Wayne! My backside has been saved many times by advice given here. You'll find just about everyone willing to help you out when you need it. Compared to the other auction boards out there, this one is definately the best. I have to agree with you there.

Again, welcome aboard!

tomwiii -- you stay away from that monkey!

Already have asked for some identification help in a subsequent post...

Thanks for the welcome, folks.

Welcome Wayne.

This bunch has saved me countless stupid mistakes. Plus, they are really funny. Don't let them fool you, more than Ralphie have been known to bite.

Just got back from a FANTASTIC week in LONDON!

NOW my favorite city anywhere! Saw "The Lion King" and "Grease" and "Fame" and had a truly spectacular time there!

Course, I get back & the proverbial something hits the fan as me Mum died while I was somewhere over the Atlantic in the sardine can that USScare has the neuve to call a jumbo-jet.

So, ole Ralphie gets to stay a few extra days with his buds over at the Vets -- they really love him as the Vet used to raise Bostons!

Never ends does it?

Welcome Wayne,

Ralphie is way too cute to bite....me thinks he just has a bad rep...or is that bad rap?

Oh well, he's still a cutie.

Lucy: Thanks. It wasn't a surprise, as she had been in Hospice care for the past 3 months. Wish she had held on for 1 itty-bitty day longer.

All the travel sites had a sale on England last month -- couldn't pass it up as they were practically giving away the vacations!

Welcome Wayne
The information that has appeared on this board has translated into big$$ for me in the form of mistakes avoided, scams detected and sales made. I don't see how anyone could start selling and hope to make a profit unless they participate in this group(but then I'm prejudice because I've been here since the beginning).

Tom...Please accept my most sincere condolences. I went through the same thing a year ago and I know how you feel. Things WILL get better, even though it's hard to believe that at a time like this.

I agree, this board has some of the most helpful and friendly people around! I've gotten some real good laughs from some of these threads.I posted a question on a financial advice message board a couple weeks ago, and was amazed at how completely angry, bitter and unhelpful my responses were. I had to come back to this place just to get some faith back in humanity!

Wayne: welcome! I'm sure you'll benefit us as much as we benefit you. This is really a great board. I've learned so much over the years.

Tom: hugs and more hugs, my friend. Happy about your trip to London (jealous, actually), but sorry about your mother. May she be at peace.

To Everyone Else: I have one more eBay transaction to complete (he would have to send a money order....groan), and then I'm officially on vacation until September. I'm going to use my time to reorganize, to buy new stock, and to chill out. But, I'll be checking the boards so I'm not too far behind when Fall comes around. Things change fast in eBay-land. I hope everyone has a prosperous and pleasant summer.

"I posted a question on a financial advice message board a couple weeks ago, and was amazed at how completely angry, bitter and unhelpful my responses were."

We aren't angry, bitter or unhelpful but sometimes we can be nasty and unsympathetic. OTOH we will try to help anyone with a real problem, a serious question, or a newby who wants to learn.

Personally I have learned a lot here. Thanks to all who have made my "ebaying" easier and more profitable.

Thanks again for the warm welcomes...

Inot - I sell an ecclectic bunch of stuff - mostly from going to estate sales - then again, looking for sources is fun, too.

We've been pretty lucky so far - having found a couple of good buys - then taking decent pics and doing the research to describe...

Anyone with photo questions, please don't hesitate to ask. My training is in professional photographic illustration, but I now work in marketing for a global co. Right now, this is my "hobby" that takes up a good portion of my time... Still not big enough to justify a major investment in automation, but moving forward step by step.

Oh boy Wayne, you'll be in high demand here!
I DO have a question regarding picture taking. I am having a problem with lighting.
I have recently moved and can't seem to find a good spot in my new home for picture
taking. Using a flash is too harsh, and natural light is too unpredictable. Can you recommend an efficient ( and affordable) lighting set up for me? Thanks in advance

Inot,

You might not like what I have to say -- ....

I actually use one or two really cheapo clamp work lights I got at The Home Depot... The kind with the shiny, silver reflector. I have a 60W bulb in them...(standard - nothing special about it).

But - that being said, I can get images like this:

and even cool stuff like this....

The big thing is the quality of your digital camera. You can overcome a lot of lighting issues if you can do a couple of things like "white balance" or adjust the intensity of your flash. I have a Canon PowerShot 30 3.2 megapixel. It has a lot of the same adjustments you can make with an older Single Lens Reflex camera (like the type I learned on 19-20 years ago.

Feel free to send me some pics as an example of some of the challenges and I'll see what I can do to diagnose... Also, any other details on your camera model and details would be helpful, too.

e-Mail me at: Wayne AT GeeksBiz DOT Com (obviously correcting the format of the above before you send me anything - just doing that because it keeps the spam bots from locating another e-mail address to harvest...)

Kind regards,

Wayne

Seems to me that Vendio Management should advertise Vendio's services more, and use our testimonials (and pay us, too??).

I truthfully could not still be selling on ebay if it weren't for this wonderful bunch of people. Love 'em all. Even Ralphie the Boston.
