eBay is changing the way people do business, and becoming a cultural and economic powerhouse along the way. Its CEO says it's only the beginning. Also, Ted Turner speaks out about the AOL Time Warner merger. Tonight at 9 p.m. ET/PT. More...

This should be interesting...........

It's a new segment. Thanks, Libra.

Correspondent Charlie Rose went inside the world of eBay last fall when the site was averaging 50 million users.

Today, the number of users has grown to 69 million, and people are spending $59 million a day on everything from Beanie Babies to BMWs. CEO Meg Whitman says it's only the beginning.

I believe it's the same segment they ran last year - they'll just tag it at the beginning and end with some up-to-date stats.

I forgot about the season of reruns so you're probably right. I think the original one was about the family that bought all the houses with their ebay profits.

But now their auctions aren't getting many bids. It would be interesting if they did an update on them.

It would be interesting to see an update on them, but I doubt they will do one if their sales have gone south. I wonder if they still have all those houses?

Great timing for the 50% off listing fees promotion.

This episode originally ran on CBS last October. I actually taped it at the time!
They showed eBay's Home Page on tonight's show, which portrayed a large spider web with the words, "Halloween Costumes."
I had to laugh when Meg said that the small sellers are on a level playing field with Disney!

69 million users and some of my best stuff still only gets 20 hits or so. Sigh. I've got to change my strategies....when I come back from vacation.

Some days are good for selling on Ebay and some days are just crap! I wish there was some way we could see the real numbers for sales on Ebay- not just the ones they want you to see. I know for a fact I am not the only seller that has had more bad days selling than good- the past days..weeks..months. For the items I sold last year this time of the year for good money- I can barely give away this year.

PS I sell full time- I am not a weekend hobby seller!

That includes the 40+ ids my neighbor has. The 20+ her husband has and the 20+ her 14 year old daugter has.

If the IRS would count dependents the way ebay counts users we would all be wallowing in refund money.

I would love to see how many of that 69 million has won an auction or sold an item on eBay in the last 6 months. Next month makes 5 years of selling on eBay for me and it is the worst sales I have ever had. The items I am selling are bringing much less than last year and way less that the years before.

I know I have an ID for selling and another one for buying. And the same goes with my husband so in our household we have 4 user ID's- how about you?
