Have, did you folks notice.....It gives the Name,City and State of the buyer. Yeaaaaaaa!!!!!This is NEW. Thanks e bay. That's all Well and Good but what's the point? That info would be GREAT while the auction is in progress,,,,,It does have its merits I guess once it's over but,,,,,what about while it's going????? Then,,,,,,You, e bay, bury the zip farther down the page. In this case the zip needs to be right with the buyer address. does that not make sense? I DO believe e bay IS reading what is said here but very slow to follow what needs to be done. Great efforts. Effort have NEVER paid off. End results DO.

Why do you need that information if the bidder is not the winner?

As bidder unless you are pulling my contact info, that information is none of your BUISNESS unless I WIN YOUR auction.

When a bidder is a NON reader on e bay and they bid on my 300 pound piano that clearly states in BOLD, NO SHIIPING! WILL NOT SHIP! MUST PICK UP! I wanna know where they are bidding from and when I see a City 3000 miles away, I can rest assured they read Nothing. Happens too many times.

So now I WON! your auction. (now it's too late, and that piano closed at $4000.00 )Are they going to pay? No! 20 days of B.S. filing npb. To get SOME of my money back. And then a nice NEG. from the NON reading bidder Because they have a npb on them from the seller.

Therefore it IS of Concern for the sellers BUSINESS.

Thank you.

How do you know that the bidder doesn't have someone able to pick up the piece?

They are not obligated to tell you any information until they WIN

Nor should they have to.

Your Welcome.

Sometimes it is good to have there information for lots of reasons but at the same time buyers also buy for family members and you would not know this until the end of the auction.

If you knew the Zip Code while the auction was running and it was for an item with local pick-up at least you could e-mail and ask the bidder what his intentions are as many don't bother to read.

That would be more sensible than finding out later and having your auction wrecked.

I agree with twelvepole: I could care less where the bidder lives. I only want to know after they have won the auction. I really don't care where they live as long as I have the Zip Code to give the buyer the shipping charges.

sanmar, it's local pick-up that fetish is talking about. It sounds like bidders are winning her auctions but they don't read and live miles away and some items are too big to ship.

I agree with the poster that said a lot of people buy stuff on ebay through other people that are already registered and know the ropes of ebay. It could present a lot of unnecessary problems. I can also see the other side of the coin and the zip codes would help avoid some problems as well. There is so much online paranoia that maybe ebay sided on the side of caution and chose to not show the zip codes for the buyers.

kiara is reading this right. and thank you for clarifying what I said.

To repeat as I want to see this fucntion instated and NOT argued here.

Of course I would and anyone else in this situation would e mail the bidder with an address 3000 miles away and ask them when and how they would be picking up the HUGE Non shipping item. When they say gee,,,, I did not read that you know!!!!! If they are for real and do read then they will tell you of their intended intentions of getting it. Once it's over, the seller is screwed by yet another NON reader.

9 times out of ten, they read Nothing. THIS is why that is SO important. I sell many un shippable products. 10,000 pound steel shearing machines the size of a small storage shed.

Fetish - ebay has already given you a way to be sure your bidders are from an approved location without the privacy of every bidder on ebay being invaded. You simply chose not to use it.

You can set you auction up to accept pre-approved biddrs. Those that are interested can write you, jump thru all of your little hoops, you then put them on the list of approved bidders and Wala!

Shhhhhhh,,,,,,whisper,,don't let anyone out there know that Houston Texas is a buyer on e bay. We don't want Houstons privacy invaded. Or New York or Boston or L.A. Or Seattle, Portland? wait there are two Portlands!!! shhhhh,,,,,don't let it out which one.

I live in Seattle!!!!!!!! can you hear that!!!!!!!! So What!!!! Ya gonna find me in Seattle and hunt me down???? Good try.

Privacy has nothing to do with this issue. Having an idea where bidders are is.

Whatever, it's on it's way. And for good. Read the original post again all that info is now in EAO notice. E bay knows they have shrunk the world and soon You will see the city or State of the bidders while the auction is in progess.

LOL, you certainly are not one to read posts... I don't think anyone has said anything about it being in the EOA...
That is where it should be for the seller to contact the WINNER

If eBay does read these boards then they will see that all people do not want that information given out during the auction...

Unless you happen to be a spammer then I could see where having easy access to all that information on just anyone bidding would be of use.

What is your excuse for not wanting to have pre-bidders?

Nice, but I have not been receiving the ebay EOA notices in the last couple days.

Seems to be a problem there.

Yeah, what's an EOA from ebay? Maybe that's why the EOAs are DOAs.
