I am at my mom's house helping her after surgery and we have been talking about getting her possessions down to a manageable size so she could move if needed. I have 3 siblings, so many of the antiques will be divided amongst us but she has SO MUCH!
My grandmother was an Indian historian of sorts and Mom has 3 volumes of "The Indian Tribes of North America" by thomas mcKenney and James Hall - " a new edition edited by frederick webb hodge and david bushnell..
published edinburgh: john grant
31 george IV blvd
1934".
Mom thinks these 3 books together should sell for around $ 5,000 ... is she on target? Is EBay a good place to sell them?

In my opinion, with books it's even more important than with other things to keep in mind that online asking prices are just that: asking prices. Not prices realized.
I have to remind myself of this every time I get something that might be valuable.
eBay might not be the best venue; they could get lost in the shuffle. Why not contact a real-life auctioneer who sells Indian stuff, perhaps in Arizona or New Mexico?

fluffy is right. You'll do much better with an auction house in a specialized sale than on ebay. Good luck to you and do keep us posted. I'd love to see a member come away a huge winner!!!

Looks like the last post has found the books. That seller at that site has the luxury of waiting months or even years for a buyer to show up.
